Full nose of youthful black cherry with musk and rusticity. Full bodied and dense black cherry fruit that's not the most subtle but still charming and brings along some spice and earth accents. Young with no hard edges. Very good and at peak. A tame, charming mature Faiveley.

Single blind. Darker black cherry with spice and herb aromas. Impressive, round, concentrated palate with brightness and lift. Pure red cherry fruits with harmonious balance. I thought this was the 2012 given the concentration (and given the actual 2012 showed so lightweight and acidic).

Single blind and readily identifiable as the 2009 given its ripe, dark and brooding character. Black cherry and earth tones on the nose. Palate is bigger, dense with brooding, tense structure. Along with the 2005, the most substantial of all vintages tasted, and I like the potential here better than the 2005 as the structure seems more amicable. Upside from here.

Non-blind. The best of the nine vintages tasted, and not particularly close. Pure, lifted red and black cherry aromas with spice and mineral accents. The palate is already in perfect harmony with rich, smooth cherry fruit lifted by integrated acidity. Attractive, long finish.

Single blind. Pretty, bright and red fruited nose with florals and spice. Juicy red cherry in a light-to-medium weight profile with lots of crunchy acidity. Fresh, if lean finish. I was convinced this was the 2008. Where is the 2012 concentration? Perhaps just clamped down, but surprisingly light weight. Upside if this is just closed, but not sure.

Non blind. Practically a barrel sample with its bold, rich, confectionary red cherry aromas. Palate is similarly flashy with sweet red cherry fruit that is fun now. Brightened by fresh acidity and certainly has a suave tannic backbone. Like many 2018s it is more rich/ripe but has the freshness to age at least over the medium term. Upside as the develops nuance.

Dirty armpit aromas and syrupy fruit. Yikes.

Pronounced stem on the herby, smoky and dried cherry nose. Similar stem-influenced flavors on the palate with a leaner composition. I'd drink up as the firm structure on the finish will outlast the fruit.

Similar to the 95 this has plenty of whole bunch stem shining through with herb, smoke and spice but so much more fruit to absorb so that the stem so it is an accent and not center stage. Palate has rich and sweet fruit that is approachable, if primary, with nice stem-influenced complexity. This is now squarely in its drinking window and should hold for 10+ years and be a much more interesting 26 year-old than the 1995 today.

Single blind and easy to spot as the 2004. Decidedly herby and green-tinged red fruit aromas. The palate is light bodied with pronounced green notes and bitter structure. My least favorite - some preferred this to the 2006, which was surprising to me, but says a lot about the 2006.

2005 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Single blind and reasonably easy to identify as 2005. Full aromas of non-delineated crushed ripe black cherry and spice. A big, rich and dense palate where the concentrated fruit and substantial tannic structure aren't yet in harmony. Seems like there is proportional amounts of fruit and structure present to age and smooth out. Others had their doubts. Upside from here if this can integrate with time.

2006 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale 87 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Non-blind. A very ripe and roasted profile on both the nose and palate. Hard to get past the ripe, plummy, nearly-stewed fruit profile. Fine but pretty weak in the context of the vertical. Drink up.

2007 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Single blind and also reasonably easy to identify as the 2007. The most ready, at peak and enjoyable vintage of the flight. Attractive, enticing nose of raspberry, red cherry and spice. Plush, round fruit on the palate is mid-weight with nice length and seamlessly integrated still-grippy structure. Should hold for 5+ years, but no need to hold. Wine of the flight.
