This drank very beautiful after about 45 minutes when it opened up with strawberries, tobacco and an ethereal lightness of other red fruits. Was afraid it was too young but its drinking window seems to have just opened up to let some spring in. Wish I had more

Really quite pleasant. Even drinking well now. The experiences here largely don't match my experience with just one bottle. It didn't taste overripe or problematic at all.

Unfortunately this is way overripe with only a trace of acidity. It’s not bad per se but to me this was in the same league as a nicer (but not great) CA pinot noir and nothing more.
In terms of Burgundy this drinks like a 2003 with less structure if that is possible. I love Mugnier and buy this wine virtually every year but really happy that I passed on buying this vintage.

Reading back through notes here, and shaking my head. In Jan this year someone called it simple, and in contrast four months later someone found it dense and heavy. What we had was none of those things. Our bottle, splash decanted and returned to the bottle about 90 minutes before pouring, was just medium-bodied, closer to delicate than dense, and totally alive with rapturous spice, violets and acidity. Ethereal. Blind, anyone who knows Burgundy would have guessed its origins.

VDS 2-102-5. Jacques Fredric Mugnier, NSG 1er, Clos de la Marechale 2018
