Great red burgundy 1999 horizontal tasting (21 wines) - semi blind

Introduction
I was really looking forward to this tasting. 21 wines, most of them Grand Crus and a few 1. cru. with the well known Domaines. I was not disappointed.
Warming up:3 btls of excellent champagne: Comtesse Marie de Franca 1999, Henriot Rosé millesime 2008 and Clos Gazals 1998 (not scored)

Closing
The evening's winner was a big surprise for me: Charlopin-Parizot Echezeaux 1999 (96+). Outstanding
The evening's no. 2, just a few centimetes behind was an "outsider because it was the only wine not from 1999, DRC Romanee St. Vivant 1973 was really impressive - 46 years old and still fresh and fruity but also with nice well integrated tertiary notes and good balance (96)
No 3, right behind DRC again Charlopin-Parizot Charmes-Chambertin 1999 (95+) together with Denis Mortet Le Chambertin 1999 (95+).
1999 Domaine Jean Grivot Clos Vougeot 91 Points

Garnet, Lots of farmyard, forest floor, smoke. Not in complete balance. almost port wine-like. Pronounced intensity with long finish. Too rustic but still an excellent wine. Drink now. 91+

Garnet. Floral aromas with and significant wet stone, a little musty cellar, wet cardboard (a little TCA). Very rustic, however still excellent. 91+

Garnet. The most fruity of the 4 Jean Grivot wines, strawberry and raspberry: Medium tannin. Together with Richebourg the best of the 4 Jean Grivot btls. Not as rustic as Clos de Vougeot and Les Beaumonts. 93+

1999 Domaine Philippe Charlopin Echezeaux 96 Points

The surprising winner of the evening. Opens up in the glass. Lots of fruit , raspberry and strawberry. 96+. Followed very closely by the outsider (the only wine not from 1999) DRC Romanee st. Vivant from 1973 (96).

Immediately after poured up, the aromas were extraordinary (score 98!). However the aromas develop in a negative way and the aggregated score ends at 95. Fruity, strawberry and raspberry, but not quite as much as cuvee Echezeaux. Still an Outstanding wine. 95+. The evening's no. 3 (together with Denis Mortet Le Chambertin 1999) after Charlopin-Parizot Echezeaux 1999 and the outsider (not 1999 but 1973) DRC Romanee St. Vivant 1973. 95++

The evening's outsider (the only wine not from 1999). Really impressive - 46 years old and still fresh and fruity but also with nice well integrated tertiary notes. Good balance. Outstanding wine kept in the same celler since for years.
The evening's no. 2, just a few centimeters behind Charlopin-Parizot Echezeaux 1999 (96+) and a few centimeters ahead of Charlopin-Parizot Charmes-Chambertin 1999 (95+) and Denis Mortet Le Chambertin1999 (95+). For me Charlopin-Parizot was pretty unknown - not after this tasting!
