Plenty of remaining ripe dark fruit and still quite fresh and minerally, but rather closed, short and restrained for a grand cru. Maybe this wine still needs more time, but I'm not sure this is going anywhere.

The wood is integrated, it has a scent of something like cardamom and coriander. Elegant and long but lacks complexity. Not up to GC quality. Perhaps more time would help but I doubt it.

Bon Vivant nailed this one. Rather dull and simple. The wood was integrated in my bottle. There was no life, depth, or complexity that would be expected in this wine.

Muted nose, a bit tart and slightly chalky. Dark fruit that was rather dull with some noticeable wood. I have had much better luck with Laurent's 1999's but this was more in style of his 96's. and not a good 96 at that. Not a flawed bottle but rather pedestrian and disappointing for a GC.

Great red burgundy 1999 horizontal tasting (21 wines) - semi blind (Nordsjaelland): Is a little closed in the beginning but develops fast bin the glass with strawberry. significant earth aromas
