3 flights of 2010 Barolos covering a range of styles
We had some initial Langhe sparklings (Alta Langa, Marcalberto) and a lovely Sauternes (2007 Château Guiraud) to finish
2010 Marcarini Barolo Brunate 92 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
First Barolo of the night
Nose of freshly laid road, a little tomato leaf, strawberry, kirsch, an expensive perfume note, oud perhaps?
Palate of dried cherry, some Parma violet, tannins kicks in but still delicious.

2010 Azelia Barolo Margheria 92 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
While the Marcarini was a freshly laid road, this is an old country lane.
Nose of dusty tar, dried cherry. Quite elevated notes. A little incense - reminds me of church. Nelson said chalky and I get that.
Palate brings light red plum, really juicy, mouth filling but light bodied at the same time. Great balance

2010 Massolino Barolo Margheria 90 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
More advanced on the nose than anything so far. Animale, game, soy sauce, some iodine
Delivers on the nose with dried plum, liquorice, umami, despite seeming prettt advanced still fairly tannic on the finish.
Not without its charms and understand there is quite a bit of bottle variation here
