NV Medivol Cremant de Limoux Brut 86 Points
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Crémant de Limoux
Pale green hued color. Small taste. Green fruits, the dosage seems on the higher side of brut, lager, very light bodied, creamy, simple. The 30% Chenin shows through strongly and not necessarily in a good way.

2019 Domaine des Cognettes Muscadet Selection des Cognettes 89 Points
France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet
Pale gold color. Small glass over 30 minutes. Ripe with crustacean overtones, brine, earthen with cedar shavings, peach, and citrus on the nose. The palate is a touch thin, lemon and saline on the palate with less minerality than the nose. Solid value. 89+ to 90pts.

2015 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Blanc 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
Light gold color. Drank a glass plus over an hour. This was in a very nice drinking window; delicate and finessed with a cedarbox eathiness, lemon, very fresh, tangerine, and this flinty minerality. Very well balanced and quite lovely. 91+pts.

2015 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Réservée 90 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was showing a lot of diesel and petroleum character on the nose and palate. Rather oily, lemon oil, citrus, stones, more broadness than a bottle several years ago.

2007 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles 94 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Medium red color. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours plus. This was a rocking bottle tonight, JFG. The nose is so expressive and perfumed with florals, cherry, iron, anise, sauvage, game and gorgeous NSG spices. The palate has that ethereal featherweight character with lift and energy, medium bodied, cherries, dried spices, charcoal, sauvage, iron and fresh leather on a nice long finish. Love the parallels of '07 in Oregon and Burgundy. Fantastic now, no rush. My and group #2 WOTN.

2008 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours. As expected this took longer to evolve. Brooding at first with darker fruits, dark red fruits and black cherry, evolving slowly to show baking spices, underbrush, orange rind and mineral notes on a dense, layered more powerful frame. Very good and surely benefits from air right now. 92+ to 93pts.

2001 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 94 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Medium dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over 90 minutes. The '01 Charvin is a beautiful wine with a Burgundian soul. Perfectly integrated and balanced, this is old school charm and elegance in a transparent style. The nose bursts with fresh cut garrigue, olive, cherries, potpourri and blood. The palate is medium bodied, layered with red fruits, Provencal herbs, blood and minerals on a silky texture with round giving tannins. Loved it again. 94+pts.

2001 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Very dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours. I've really enjoyed this wine in the past, but this bottle just didn't have the complexity or brightness of the others. I suspect that this likely had some storage issues along the way. Deep olive tapenade nose, baked dark fruits, chocolate, deep garrigue character, rich and concentrated. Score withheld, impression 91ish.

2000 Château Rauzan-Ségla 95 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour plus. This was on fire tonight. Fantastic notes of tobacco and pencil, perfumed with cassis, violets and earth and hints of lanolin. The palate is full bodied and deeply layered and quite lively, cassis, creme de cassis, black cherry, smoke, pencil, tobacco and a long finish, Fantastic now, but still has significant upside. My and group WOTN.

2009 Bodega Catena Zapata Nicolás Catena Zapata 91 Points
Argentina, Mendoza
Very dark red /purple color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour. This was nice wine that had the unenviable position of following the '00 Rausan-Segla. That was a tough act to follow, but this drank well showing a nice core of deep, dark fruits, blackberry, black raspberry, tar and pleasant structure. Well made and balanced.

Small taste. Heavy, volatile, sweet black cherry and plum, milk chocolate, hits the nasal passages hard.
