Terkels appartment

The first meeting of the new SnakVin Copenhagen tasting group was a BYO.
Straw yellow color. Exotic nose with some fruit and minerals, but mostly dominated by roasted oak and notes of caramel. On the palate the oak is also dominating, pricking on the tongue and leaving a very dry finish. A full-bodied white with a creamy feel to it. Very good lenght but lacking some fruit acidity. It matches its new world chardonnay profile perfectly. I retasted this after a few hours standing in the open bottle, and it opened up gaining more finesse. Give it more cellaring time and serve with a good meal then this should perform brilliantly.

Black center with a purple hue. Tight and closed nose with some black cherry and currant and some pepper and raisin. Some black cherry, plum and earth first on the palate, and some pepper on the midpalate. The alcohol stings on the tongue and the powerful tannins are mouth watering. Seems closed down at the moment, but also leaves a promise to deliver more later on.

Black color with a purple rim. The nose has a good deal of boiled fruits, rhubarb and blueberry jam, and some plum. Warm style. On the palate it has the same warm boiled fruits and some pepper and sweet licorise on the midpalate. Good balance and length, with enough of both fruit acidity and tannins on the finish.

Dark red center with a brownish hue. Delicate fragrant perfume, roses, cigar box, sweet cherry, prunes, earth and barnyard. What an amazing and excitingly complex nose that keeps giving. Medium weight red cherry and black currant on the palate, some prunes and cigar box on the midpalate. Unfortunately the taste has neither the complexity nor the intensity of the nose. Great balance and good length. The finish has some soft tannins, but draws forth mouth water and leaves a not too dry taste. The taste can't live up to the nose, but the overall impression is still quite impressive. Seems to be at its peak now.

Dark red center with a slightly browning rim. Aromas of earth, roses - like a compost - pencil shavings and a note of seaweed. More powerfull on the palate with lots of black currant first and some leather and cigar box on the midpalate, ending with some prunes and brown sugar. Great length and balance. Really delicious and elegant.

Dark red color with a brick red rim. Black ripe cherry, plum, coconut and some sweet licorise on the nose. On the palate it has mostly dark berries and plums first, in a modern warm climate style. The modern style is enhanced by the roasted oak on the midpalate, but this wine also has a good deal of dryness and bitterness which gives it character and makes it more interesting. Good length.

Light red color with a brown rim. Barn and compost dominates the nose, which also shows notes of red cherries, orange peal and raisin. On the palate this is surprisingly powerfull, yet elegant. Loads of red cherries, raspberries and other red berries first. More rustic on the midpalate with tobaco, some licorise and raisin. Great balance and length, ending with a lots of tannins but still integrated in the sweet fruit. Drinks well now, but could probably gain from some more cellaring.

Dark red color just starting to show brown nuances on the rim. Very intense nose with farmyard, earthy berries and lavender. On the palate it has huge concentration, powerfull dark fruit and a load of pepper. On the midpalate it gains tobaco notes. Great length and balance, with youthfull tannins that need more cellaring. I found this bottle a little unrefined and murky, otherwise very nice.

Golden yellow color. Mature apples, rye bread and some creamy, roasted caramel on the nose. Similar mature apples on the palate, but also a sharp acidity and notes of green apples and lemon. Small bubbles that rushes over the palate. Fair lenght ending with some almond. The strenght comes from the complexity and the contanst developing in the glass.
