42yrs old and still lively. Fresh fruit, cherries, gooseberries and lush forest on the nice. Great opaque claret in the glass. Tannins have smoothed out to be gentle and mellow. Great fruit taste and length. Perfect with a Friday night Cottage Pie. Impressive that it lasted so well for so long. Testament to the good wine making and the 82 vintage. Impressive auction buy.

More on the earthy, secondary side with a focus on damp forest floor, leafy tobacco, currants, and leather. The palate is fading a bit, but, texturally, the wine is soft, earthy, and herbal, with a cherry and red currant endnote. The wine requires drinking before it continues fading. Drink from 2023-2025.

This was phenomenal. Blackberry, wet hay, black truffles, leather, pencil shavings and after 30 minutes, a lot of eucalyptus on the nose. Soft silky tannins, blackberry, cinnamon and eath on the palate. High acid that is still holding there. A long delicious cinnamon finish. I don't know that this wine is going to get better but I feel it will hold for another 5 years, but it is gorgeous right now. Almost no sediments.

Dark, stern, and powerful still. Nicely perfumed from age and recognizably Bordeaux, great with shepherd's pie.
