In the bouquet dark and red berries and vanilla and just after uncorking not very expressive, With more air time the wine really improved in the bouquet as well as on the palate. In the mouth the wine showed red and dark berries, cigars, smoke, oak, a firm amount of acidity and still sticky tannin. No hurry at all with this wine. It will still be a beauty in 2025.
Beautiful and deep bouquet with some stable and barnyard smells, dark berries and cigar box. On the palate dark berries, chocolate, tobacco, bell pepper and pleasant bitterness in the finish. Good acidity and the tannin still has a bite and is a bit drying.
The bouquet is still quite locked, but shows dark berries, oak and lactic impressions. On the palate dark berries, green bell pepper, bitterness, firm acidity and round tannin. The wine is still quite locked, but after an hour or so it started to show itself in the glass as an excellent wine. Wait preferably at least 4 – 8 years before opening a bottle. 92+
In the bouquet cherries and a bit lactic at first. Also blueberries, herbs and spices like thyme and some leather. On the palate creamy and lactic as well. Juicy acidity and round tannin. Medium length. Decent, still youthful wine. Wait another 3 – 5+ years. So until 2024 – 2026+ 87+ for now.
The bouquet is a bit rustic with stable smells, some green impressions and caramel. On the palate a little bit of sweetness in the start, oak, autumn forest, chocolate, stable and cigar box. Good acidity and beautifully round and fully integrated tannin. Great wine!
Beautiful bouquet with oak, dark berries, a bit rustic and herbs and spices. On the palate dark berries, oak and chocolate, beautiful acidity and mild, round tannin. The same score as the 1999 we tasted beside it, but to be honest the 1999 was just a tad better/more ready to drink. 1998 is also a truly great wine though.
Beautiful, concentrated and deep bouquet with dark berries, spices, oak and cedar. On the palate dark berries, chocolate, oak, beautiful acidity and round tannin. Truly beautiful already, but it will certainly improve over the next 5 – 10+ years. 93++
