Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2002 Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Cuvée Rare 93 Points

    France, Champagne

12% alcohol. Light golden; medium intensity aromatics, toasty, brioche, lemon curd; palate is medium bodied, richly textured and flavored, excellent vibrant acidity but with balanced dosage; finish is medium-plus to long and clean. Traditional styled but not overly rich, brioche but actually not overly so with plenty of vibrancy. Lovely, still with a decade of age in it. 93-94

  • 2013 Lamy-Caillat Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

Aromatic, lemon, a bit of fennel spice; palate is medium-full bodied, exceptionally vibrant acidity, superb mouthfeel and balance, medium alcohol, lemon cream, plenty of minerality and crispness without heading all the way to Chablis; finish is very long. This is clearly a top tier white burgundy. 94

  • 2000 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

A bit note black fruited, black currant; palate is medium bodied, plenty of primary fruit, still youthful, balanced, integrated tannins; medium-plus length. The ‘95 is drinking better now, but this has more runway to improve. 93
