Not my style of white wine, but I respect it for what it is. For those who have not had aged white Hermitage, you might say this wine is oxidized. However, it isn't. Deep golden color, viscous in texture, honeysuckle, petrol, liquid smoke and butterscotch finish.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Great fruit concentration with an almost new world style to it. I love the purity of the fruit and the minerality on the finish. This is just a baby and it needs at least 3 more years to come into its own. I will hold off on drinking more of these for a while.
Definitely cut from the Rayas cloth, but a more diluted version. Stewed strawberry jam, cloudy color, Earl grey tea, and a touch of band-aid on the finish. Not worth the price this fetches now, but then again Rayas doesn’t either.
Decanted for 2 hours. Fully mature and based on the brick red color it is on the backside of its maturity window. It still has fruit but the best part are the classic Bordeaux tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, and cedar. Drink up as it is ready to go!
Decanted for 2 hours. About as good as it gets in the world of wine. In comparison to the ‘82 Calon Segur tasted along side it, this is still very youthful, black as pitch color with no sign of bricking, and the glow and typicity you would expect from a great vintage of Latour. This ranks amongst the best vintages of Latour that I’ve tasted including ‘59, ‘66, ‘82, and ‘96. Incredible wine… I don’t even have to drink it because I could just smell it in the glass all night long. Utterly delicious! I expect this will only get better over the course of the next 10-15 years. Latour is a wine for kings and queens and is always a treat to taste.
While not fair to this wine to follow a bottle of ‘90 Latour, it still held its own at the end of the night. Very new world in style, brooding black fruit, high alcohol, and a young, vibrant, tannic finish. I will give my remaining bottles another 3+ years to integrate better.

Always a great way to start an evening. In my opinion, Krug makes the best NV Champagne that money can buy. Superb!
