France, Languedoc Roussillon, Roussillon, Côtes Catalanes
Enjoyed with the finest kebabs in west london. Colour - pale gold. Really lovely stuff - starts off at the less oxidative end of white Rioja, but with a big mouthfeel and it goes on and on. I had been a little worried this might be past it but absolutely not - this bottle sand. WOTN by popular acclaim.
Another waitrose half bottle. Popped and poured. Super clean - no funk here - but perhaps more tertiary notes than previous bottles. A lovely core of that kind of non-flabby weight that musar sometimes has. Really good.
Third of our kebab trio. Still young but - when paired with the wonderful charred meats - not painfully so. The most expressive of our three bottles on the nose, this was ready to hold its own in the steamy kebab shop environment. Taste wise - still the high toned American oak, tannins not fully integrated but decent fruit underneath. I need to forget what I paid for this (under £6) and start treating it with a *little* more respect.
