Bright ruby color with slow legs. A little muted on the nose subtle hints of earth, spice and dark red cherry come through. Dusty palate of mixed berry and vvanilla. Medium leathery finish.

Agree. Full, caramel and briar nose; lovely fruit; full but harmonious oak. Mine a Sainsbury's bottle, and none the worse for that. Drinking well but will obviously keep.

West London Kebab Research (Fez Mangal): Third of our kebab trio. Still young but - when paired with the wonderful charred meats - not painfully so. The most expressive of our three bottles on the nose, this was ready to hold its own in the steamy kebab shop environment. Taste wise - still the high toned American oak, tannins not fully integrated but decent fruit underneath. I need to forget what I paid for this (under £6) and start treating it with a *little* more respect.

Disappointing. Stick with the gran reserve 2009 for better value.
