Lemon, apple, pear, smoke on the nose. Crystal clean palate, lovely drive with the fruit sweetness well controlled. Zings across the palate with good fresh flavour presence. Lovely.

  • 1996 Agrapart Champagne Grand Cru Avizoise Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 92 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

Toast, honey, lime, earthy spice and ginger on the nose. Flavour permeates the palate, awesome intensity and layered complexity. Acid kicks through to keep it fresh. Will plateau from here based on this bottle, awesome now though.

  • 1993 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut 94 Points

    France, Champagne

Lemon, plenty of orange, woody spice. Plenty of life and lift on the palate, energetic and lively. Lots of texture and depth to this. Finishes clean and quite focused. Killer bottle, one of the best Cristals' I've had.

  • 2018 Didier Dagueneau Blanc Etc 91 Points

France, Loire Valley, Vin de France

Grassy with lemon and vanilla aromatic notes. Clean and clear palate, good crisp acidity, has a pretty edge to the fruit resulting in this being quite nice to drink early in its life.

  • 2018 Didier Dagueneau Buisson Renard 93 Points

France, Loire Valley, Vin de France

Apple, apricot, graphite, pear and strawberry on the nose. Palate is medium bodied, with plenty of fruit but also a pithy bitterness that gives it a bit more complexity. Feels like a complete package despite its youth.

  • 2018 Didier Dagueneau Pur Sang 92 Points

France, Loire Valley, Vin de France

Orange peel, sea spray, pear and vanilla on the nose. Coiled up palate, this brings an extra layer of depth and an extra level of potential to explode with enough time. Hold this longer if you can.

  • 2020 Lake's Folly Chardonnay 90 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Straw, lemon and vanilla on the nose. The palate shows a touch of oak but enough ripe fruit to cover at this stage. Good acidity lends the palate some drive. Pretty good but I wonder where it'll lead in time.

  • 2018 Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc

Floral, smoky, pear and peach. Nice tension on the palate, with the ripeness of the fruit well controlled by acidity. Tasty profile, with good balance. Punches above its level.

  • 2018 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Les Forêts 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

Oyster shell, pear, orange and pineapple. Palate has an extra level of presence and depth to it. Lovely interplay of boldly ripe fruit and the acid core providing backbone. Fantastic texture and balance here. Should age beautifully as the youthful exuberance settles.

  • 2016 Château Pierre-Bise Savennières Roche aux Moines 88 Points

France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennières Roche aux Moines

Slate, grapefruit, vanilla and pear. Plenty of texture here but the alcohol clips the finish slightly. Medium bodied, this was good to try but was maybe just lacking some overall interest.

  • 2010 J. Confuron-Cotetidot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vignes Rondes 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru

Pomegranate, iron, plum and roses - good mix of savoury earth and pretty notes on the nose. Palate is more restrained, with the tannins still standing firm. Finishes a tad short currently - I wish the palate was more in line with the aromatics but it's still good.

  • 2016 Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Villero 92 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Floral nose with violets and roses, some spice and red berries as well. Really appealing palate, plenty of red fruit flavour and attractive perfume, while having good structure and flow. Really solid wine.

  • 2005 Giuseppe Quintarelli Rosso del Bepi Veneto IGT 91 Points

    Italy, Veneto, Veneto IGT

Graphite, plum, cherry and blackcurrant. Plenty of jammy fruit on the palate, though has a touch of bitterness that gives it a bit more interest over just being rich and ripe. Medium length.

  • 2005 Domaine de Beaurenard (Paul Coulon et Fils) Châteauneuf-du-Pape Boisrenard 90 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Cranberry, roses and peppery notes on the nose. Plenty of red fruit on the palate, though the alcohol shows up in the middle as well. Still maintains flow and length, feels structured though I'm not sure that I'd leave it very long term.

  • 2018 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 92 Points

Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River

Peppery, blackberry, spicy oak. Has a cool mineral spine to go with the red fruited palate. Good length and obviously good structure. All seems to be in place to develop really nicely.

  • 2019 Lake's Folly Cabernets 93 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Raspberry, cherry, cranberry and plenty of floral notes as well. Sweet palate profile at this stage but has structure with good acidity to keep it fresh. Fresh and vibrant, with good potential to develop well.

  • 2012 A.J. Adam Hofberg Riesling ** Auslese ** 93 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

AP #08. Honey, apple, peach, spices and a cool mint type flavour through it. Really lovely balance, this has cut and drive but there is also a delicious lusciousness to the fruit. Balance treats the fine line of being supple but also fresh and driven. A good step up on the "standard" Auslese this vintage.
