Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
Deep golden color. Very dense and mineral nose, yeast, mellow apple, complex.
On the palate also very dense and deep, ripe apple, apricot, some brioche. Salty and with a beautiful tension and pressure. Elegant and fresh. Good length. Mousseux was finer than the Moncuit. Still young, but drinks nicely now.
93-94

Medium golden color. Fine, complex and deep nose with some citrus. In the background I sensed a bit of cork.
Even though I got some cork on the palate as well and this bottle was most probably not perfect, it was a fantastic champagne and a step up from the RD 2004. Wonderful tension, great pressure, depth and elegance. Very mineral, fresh with some ripe citrus notes, fine and everlasting mousseux and a long and lingering finish. Really beautiful! 94-95

Oh dear, what can I say. I am not a big fan of Viognier as it lacks acidity. Compared to Guigals Doriane, Jamets Vernillon is more precise and focused, less chubby and sumptuous. Very good wine, but boring and not really exiting. Goes certainly well with food, but for this price tag, I expect more of everything. Certainly young, but I cannot imagine, how this should age.. 89-90

Popped and poured. Beautiful Riesling, still far away from its future glory. Some sweet fruit, pineapple and lime, beautiful tension and pressure, salty mineral core, very balanced. Long. Give it lots of air and time or wait for 3-5+ years and it will gain 2-3 pts. 94++

On the palate very deep and complex. Fine botrytis, sweet fruit, orange zests, white blossoms, wonderful mineral core. Great balance and harmony. Creamy mouthfeel. Very long and lingering. Beautiful! 94-95

Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
Popped and poured. Outside temperature of ~30 degrees celsius. The wine was not chilled. Hence it tasted like sweet marmelade. What a pitty, not able to enjoy this bottle.

Decanted for about 30 minutes. Tried to chill it at outside temperature of ~30 degrees celsius. It partially showed a glimpse of what it could be: very balanced, silky and dense. But it was still too warm and the wine was hot. Better than the 2005 Beaucastel experience, but we did not do it justice by drinking it too warm and with not enough air.

Popped and poured. Clear, deep purpel color. Nice, classic left bank Bordeaux nose.
On the palate medium+ acidity, medium+ tannin. Fine red fruit, some cherry, some fresh herbs. Very good balance, silky texture, good length. In a wonderful spot right now. 93

Popped and poured. Certainly a clear step up from the Artemis. Beautiful spicy nose, pencil shavings, red fruit, very harmonious.
On the palate elegant, silky texture, round, harmonious, no rough edges, but also some pressure and tension. Good length. Will continue to evolve, but I doubt that it will be really great. 92-93+

Popped and poured. Clear, deep golden color. Holly moly, this is beautiful for an entry level wine! Reductive, complex and a bit oaky nose. On the palate good grip, fine fruit (pear), salty mineral notes, spices, medium+ acidity. Yes, it still has a noticeable touch of oak, but it suits this wine. Very good balance, nice structure and texture. Good length. Drink now or within the next 5+ years. 91-92

Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
Popped and poured. Clear, pale golden color. Nos still muted, we should have decanted this bottle.
On the palate very fresh and obviously young. Way more focused and precise than the Huber. Beautiful pressure and tension. Oak perfectly integrated. Very tight and spicy, with a lot of extract. Long finish. Bright and shiny future ahead. 93+

Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
Popped and poured. Clear, pale golden color. Complex, classic Ruwer nose, cassis, elder, sweet fruit, deep and complex.
On the palate a beautiful, chubby young lady. You notice the warm vintag. Lots of sweet, exotic fruit. The texture is creamy, almots oily and it is really sweet. But it is also very complex and multi-layered. I am sure, that it will gain even more complexity and will reduce a bit of its fat in 5-10 years. Nevertheless it is already beautiful and joyful to drink! 93+

Deep golden color. Quite advanced nose, yeasty, some rime citrus.
Rather sweet, a bit rough mousseux, mineral, tension, oxidative, good length. This bottle seemed advanced and a bit past peak. 92
