91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, 16-18 months in oak, 13.50%, open 14.00 tasted 19.00 -/- The wine shows high intensity in the nose, smoky, earthy, dried red fruit, coffee notes, black cherry, black berry, red cherries. In the palate, the wine follows the nose, earthy, coffee, nice acidity, medium body, dried red fruit, some tannins mostly dissolved, a touch of heat. Elegant, fully developed with some life still in it. -//- At 10.40 the wine keeps the same profile
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, open 14.00 tasted 20.00 -/- The wine is utterly spicy, decadent, coffee, earthy, there is dried fruit here, red fruit, chocolate, keeps growing in the nose. In the palate, the wine shows more fruit than the nose, feels earthy, spicy too, the tannins are edgy, medium body, medium acidity, overall feels less expressive than the nose though or the expression is different (either way you want to look at it) -//- 10.40 the earthy/spicy element is (for the most part) gone and you get some more fruit
66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc. 13%, open 14.00, decanted 18.30 tasted 20.30 -/- This is quintessential Bordeaux wine, full on fruit, thin oak frame, showing elegance and finesse, a few gamey and spicy notes, mostly black fruit, graphite, black cherry and currant. In the palate, the wine shows the same style, black ripe berries, currants, a touch earthy, full on tannins, nice acidity, full body and long finish. I see a nice life ahead of it -//- 10.40 the wine got earthier and spicier
53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, 13%, open 14.00, decanted 18.30 tasted 21.10 -/- The wine is amazingly fresh, high intensity, filled with black fruit, cherries, currants, graphite again, bold and dense, very fresh, only a touch earthy with a beautiful oak frame. Palate is big and bold, juicy tannins, elegant, finesse, silky texture, nice acidity, a touch of coffee and spices, long finish. Outstanding quality, very fresh, fruity, bold. Just like the last time I did this tasting, this is the most backward of them all. Incroyable and wine of the night for me -//- 10.40 the wine hasn’t changed a bit
Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, 42 months in oak, 128gr RS, 25000 btl (usually its 130000), open 14.00 -/- The wine shows deep golden color In the nose, the wine shows high intensity, overripe tropical fruit, stone fruit, peach, apricot, floral notes, honey, syrup, yeast notes, grape marmalade, light spice. In the palate, the wine feels luscious, full body, nice acidity, stone fruit, apricot, nectarine, peach and yeast again, pastry, honey and syrup notes in the long finish. If you want to be disgustingly (as Blackadder used to say) clinical, the wine is also a bit rough, with some alcohol heat, its not the finest of Yquem’s vintages and it shows. But screw it, its Yquem and its outstanding !
