Served alongside the '19 Lafon Monty and '10 Bouchard Monty. The '17 showed citrus, minerals, very fresh, some tropical fruit. Very complex, elegant and perfect balance. Excellent fresh finish. Although different style than the '19, I liked both a lot. The '19 had a bit of tropical fruit note, more ripe and viscous than the '17, but still excellent acidity. The '17 had more precision, acidity and freshness. The '10 Bouchard was quite good with tropical fruit, dry extract, rich, nice depth...a little more rough around the edges than both Lafons. By itself, this would be a great wine...but the competition was a bit too much this night.

Wow! Served alongside the '91 DRC and "90 Leroy RSV. Similar to my 2/20 note. Stems, spice, floral. Amazing balance, silkiness, depth with some sweetness in the middle. Sous bois. Very long finish. Perfect RSV. Best of the 3 wines.

Served alongside the '90 DRC and "90 Leroy RSV. Moderately reduced at first, but opened up with time in the glass. Stems, spice and floral notes. Great balance, but not the depth and class of both '90s. Interestingly, there have been times in the past that I preferred the '91, but not at this time.

Served alongside the'90 and '91 DRC RSV. Great anticipation on this wine, as I had previously ( 2011 ) given this wine 99 pts. Although a very good wine, it was out shadowed by the '90 DRC. Color was good, and excellent bottle fill. Darkest of the three. Spice and stems on the nose. Slightly more tannic and structured than the DRC's. Not as silky and balanced as the '90 DRC..perhaps losing some fruit, accounts for the change noted from before. I would probably drink up if still holding in your cellar.

Served alongside the '86. Cedar and dark fruits. Preferred for drinking now over the '86. Soft, medium body, balanced. Sweet finish. I don't see the wine improving with further cellaring.

Served alongside the '85. Stark contrast in the 2 wines. The '85 being very approachable and delish. The '86 is a brute...very dark color, tannic, structured, restrained, tight. Needs lots of time! Hopefully the fruit will last.

A great way to finish the evening. Decanted 7 hours prior to serving. Beautiful elegance. Light ruby in color. Strawberries and cherries on the nose, some tobacco and a bit of alcohol. Great balance. Soft, smooth silky palate that lingers into the finish.

A nice way to start the evening. Golden color. Slight pop when pulling the cork. Some pleasant oxidative notes. Citrus and nice acidity...
