A great side by side with 82 DP and 82 Cristal. Both were excellent, and both were materially better after an hour in the glass. I thought the DP was a touch better, but it wasn't unanimous. Great juice.

(Cristal) I was only passing through, but it was tough to stay on schedule as great wine after great wine emerged. It started with a killer 1982 Cristal. The nose was honeyed and butterscotchy, showered in golden toast. There were lots of yellow aromas and buttery cream ones, and its caramel glaze (again, with a yellow hue) soothed my senses. The palate was fresh and smooth, right down the middle like a 95 mph fastball. There was nice zip and vim, and a long, grainy, spritely finish. It was just flat out delicious (96).
(Cristal) The 1982 Cristal was stellar, as it should be. Its nose was fu ll of vitamins and yellow fruits, still wound but also round and rich. Citrus, butter and spice flavors were all there and harmonious in this rock-solid bottle of Cris (95)
(Roederer Cristal) Feeling empty handed, I scored a magnum of 1982 Cristal off the list at Mina’s. It was super toasty, nutty, firm, thick, rich, long and spiny. The palate was super-duper long and intense. This magnum was about as good as this can get
(Cristal) Wow! This was just jamming on all cylinders. Immediatly out of the glass this was roaring with fresh coffee grounds, black truffles, cinnamon, cumin and some roasted pear. Just an amazing nose. The palate was bliss. Amazingly complex palate that has perfect integration of acidity, truffle flavors, spice and even some tannin. The bubbles are so soft yet you still know they are there. It is one complex cohesive unit. Stunning purity and depth. This just stained your palate for minutes and left nuances of truffles for almost twenty minutes after. Stunningly profund wine.
