[Tasted blind] Correctly identified as young Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire. Pale yellow, medium+ intensity on the nose with gooseberries, steel, grapefruit, green apple and flint. Medium+ acidity, medium+ finish with a bitter note
[Tasted blind] Guessed a 10 year old Chenin Blanc from South Africa, obviously very incorrect. Very unusual, but complex wine and at €20 very good value. Medium yellow, hinging to golden in color, with medium intensity on the nose. Aroma’s of honey, dried apricot, cut plastic hose, toast, hazelnut, nutmeg, marzipan, oxidative notes. medium+ acidity with a long finish where banana candy lingers on. Almost sweet on the palate.
[Tasted blind] Incorrectly guessed new world chardonnay, 5-10 years old with quite a bit of new wood. Medium straw yellow, medium intensity with hazelnut, butter, caramel, toast, green bell pepper, pear, melon, white peach, wet stone. Medium+ acidity with a long finish with a bitter note. 92-93
This wine was on my wish list for quite a while and great to have tasted an aged version (although no hurry, can easily go another 5-8 years). Great wine!
[Not blind as it was my bottle] Interesting, but difficult. Definitely an acquired taste. Sherry notes, glycerine, nutty, smoke, spicy, lemon, lime. Almost H+ acidity, medium+ flavor intensity, long finish
[Not tasted blind as it was my bottle] Tasted next to the Tissot Vin Jaune Bruyeres 2008. Deep golden, almost hinging on amber. Off-dry. Macaroons, chipolata, candy, caramel, candy floss, honey, pastry, coffee, raisins. High acidity, medium+ flavor intensity, long finish
Although officially NV, this is 2009 (written backwards on the label as it officially not allowed). Made from Chardonnay in Jura-like fashion, 7 years sous voile
[Tasted blind] Called 20 year old Nebbiolo, which of course didn’t make sense given the tannin level. Light garnet/bricky in color. Very tertiairy (mushrooms, forest floor, earth), savoury, some cherry, almost pure ‘roosvice’, black tea. Medium+ acidity, medium- tannins, medium- finish. Quite watery on the palate.
[Not tasted blind as it was my bottle] Unfortunately bordering on flawed. The cork was completely soaked. This bottle showed only tertiary notes (leather, forest floor, mushroom), some green bell pepper, hints of blackberry and black currant.
[Tasted blind] Called Malbec from Argentina with 5 years. Dark ruby with ceder, blackberry jam, roosvice, sweet fruit, leather, some bacon. Medium acidity, high tannins, long finish. Pure fruit, but not my style. 90-91
