Was not at its best last night. Perhaps a slightly compromised bottle. Darker in color. Drier and more of an herbal note than the 18. Something seemed off.
Taut and wound up. You can sense a fruit density and there's aunctuous-round texture that emerges with air. But it needs more time. Gets wiped out by the older rieslings on the table. Check back in 5 years or more.
All the LdH blanco hits are here: Oxidation, almonds-nutty, Creamy. So correct. Round, waxy, savory. Young. It morphs with every glass. Was actually a nice match to the lamb dumplings before the really spicy dishes hit. These wines are too good.
'03 showing here. Ripe. Low acid. Kind of flaccid. It's tasty-and a good foil to spicy sichuan-but there' just not much beyond the ripe fruit. Giving what it's got at this point.
Just about perfect at this point in its evolution. Some petrol- loads of tropical fruit and zippy acidity. Refreshing acidity. Balanced and intense. Great palate intensity. A foil to the spicy dishes. Probably stunning in another 5-10 years.
Beautiful wine. Earthy and crunchy with clean red fruit balanced with earth and sous bois for days. So poised. Almost refreshing after a night of Riesling and spicy food. This still shines.
