This took about a half hour to open, but once it did it was an absolute beauty. The nose is deep and pristine with crushed rocks, candied apples, bosc pears, nectarines, jasmine, white peaches, a touch of spice, saline, and white flowers. The Medium/full bodied feel is balanced and textured with tart, high acidity. This is still on the younger side, but it’s really gorgeous. There is so much going on here and I just love this interpretation of Riesling!

Taut mineral Riesling with lovely ripe stone fruit coming though and some early hints of diesel. Needed some time in the glass to open up. This acidity and minerality will support development for a couple of decades. But it’s drinkable with joy today.

Young, but still available and very enjoyable. At this stage, better than the much more hyped 2019 vintage. Will, of course, develop very good over the next 20-30 years.

A Good Wednesday: Riesling and Friends: Knoll, Prum, Schaefer, LdH, CRB Pif, Gahier... (Northen China Eatery): Taut and wound up. You can sense a fruit density and there's aunctuous-round texture that emerges with air. But it needs more time. Gets wiped out by the older rieslings on the table. Check back in 5 years or more.
