    France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre

    Vines planted in 2010 on a limestone plateau, faces south-east.
    Manual harvest, cold-settling, then fermented in stainless steel vats.
    A long aging on the lees for 18 months, followed by a light filtration before bottling.

    Palate with intensity, lime, citrus, quince, full body, impressive, still quite youthful, a few bitter notes, warm, med to long finish

    Vines planted in 1972 on Kimmeridgian marl soils.
    Manual harvest, cold-settling, then fermented in egg-shaped concrete vats.

    The palate is juicy, fruity, tight, mineral, earthy, spicy, more bitter notes, citrus, rather short finish, a bit warm

  • 2019 Guillerault-Fargette Sancerre Rouge Ψ

    France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre Rouge

    Pinot noir grapes from 3 different plots around the villages of Sancerre.
    Hand harvested with 20% whole bunch. A slight pumping over took place during maceration of around three weeks. The different plots are aged for 18 months in three different containers: concrete egg, wooden barrels and stainless steel vats.

    Juicy fruit, med intensity, cherries, strawberries, currants, very welcoming, a thin spice frame
    Palate showing smooth juicy palate, nice tannins, cherries, berries, currants, low to med acidity, med body, med finish, rather youthful but easy drinking, a few bitter notes at the end.

    A plot of very old vines on the most beautiful terroirs of Verzé.
    Aging 10% in barrels and 90% in stainless steel vats, over a total period of 22 months. Low filtration at bottling.

  • 2019 Jules Desjourneys Pouilly-Vinzelles Les Longeays

    France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Vinzelles

    This wine comes from 30-year-old vines on clay-limestone soils at about 300 meters altitude. The grapes are hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and aged in steel tanks. Sulfur is used minimally and the wine is only slightly filtered before bottling.

    Palate smooth, again oak based, very tight, high oak notes, high acidity, needs time to settle down. The fruit is in the back, med body and finish

  • 2019 Jules Desjourneys Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes Blanches

    France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé

    Plot located on the top of Fuissé on deep clay soils with limestone.
    Vinification and aging over a period of 18 to 22 months, with aging 100% in barrels for 11 months and the rest in stainless steel vats. Little or no filtration at bottling.

    Lower intensity compared to the other wines so far, smooth, juicy, stone fruit, raw almond
    Palate is juicy, the acidity offers nerve, the oak is upfront, tight still, almond, roasted notes, tight, a bit harsh even, long finish with full body

    60% Grenache, 20% Clairette, 20% Roussanne.
    Ageing in vats for the grenaches and clairettes and, in barrels (75% new) for the roussannes for 7 months.

    The wine shows med to high intensity, nice oak frame, fresh fruit, almond, walnut, nice stone fruit, apricot and peach
    Palate is very different, very oily, thick oak frame, very tense, dense, ripe to overripe peach and apricot, pineapple, med body, med to long finish

    Vines grown on clay-limestone soil.
    Maceration for at least 3 weeks. Aged 24months in oak and stainless still.

    The noes feels a bit reductive but there is fruit underneath, spicy frame, some heavier floral notes
    Palate smooth at first with velvety tannins, juicy, but then you get trapped by the thick oak frame, spicy notes, some toasty notes, feels a bit heavy though, too much oak, bitter, planky, med finish

    Hand-harvest old-vine Gamay (50 to 90 years old) from lieu-dit ‘Les Michelons’. Biodynamically farmed.
    Whole-bunch fermentation in concrete tanks.
    Aging in used oak barrels for 24 months. Minimal S02 added after one year of elevage.
    Bottled unfined and unfiltered after two years of aging.

    The fruit is ripe, plush but also a bit restrained, almond, some roasted notes, licorice, with time the fruit gets darker, black cherries, some olive notes
    Palate juicy, black fruit, cherries, tight tannins, oak upfront again restraining the fruit, med body, bitter notes too, med finish
    Feels very youthful still

    Soil consists of red clay located in the north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
    Ageing in barrels (30% new) for Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan and, in foudres (wooden vats) for Grenache for 12 months.
