A gathering of friends, some great wines, only the 71s were served blind and most thought they were a lot younger. Leroy the people's choice for top wine.
youthfully pale straw colour
classic fragrance of lemon curd and a hint of cottage cheese, with citrus zest
perfectly structured, elegant attack with well defined citrus and mineral zest, long middle and a finish that opens up with a hint of aged complexity but still remaining very youthful and fruit driven.
a spectacular 27yr old Chablis.

rich white gold colour but a lot less dark than its age would suggest.
rich fragrance showing fine oak spice, minerality, honeycomb and plump ripe peaches.
powerful palate, rich and well structured, yet also refined and still quite tight. Honey, crushed herbs, toasty, creamy, with a strong line of peaches. really delicious, no sign of oxidative notes, just gentle signs of age. obviously a well stored example.

suitably pale red colour with a hint of brick
sweet aged cherry fruit fragrance, lifted bright tones, a little spice and soft earth
delicious fruit and lightly spiced flavours dominate, red and dark cherry, some floral notes, tending red and with a hint of cherrystone zest. soft across the palate and finishing gently with now quite soft tannins, acidity is enough to support it though.
beautiful old burgundy, well preserved.

strong colour, aged rim but deep red and earthy core.
rich fragrance, dark fruits and spice, nothing oxidative though
medium weight, has the richness and rusticity of corton, darker fruits, darker spice, earth and underbrush complexity, all very well integrated.
tannins still quite strong, overall has a youthful appearance.

pure red with a faded rim
essence of cherries, damson, refined spice, lifted floral perfume
a simply beautiful wine. Elegant and refined yet also with flavour intensity, fruit and a gentle dark spice define it, there is great length and a long peacocks tail of a finish with silky but persistent tannins. seems ageless, and hard to fault in any way.
