Terrific lime fruit. Medium weight with surprisingly fine texture. Bone dry. Excellent entry level wine, very refreshing.

Fragrant nose of crushed herbs. Medium weight but very lean and stylish due to lemony acidity and slate. Lingering, powerful finish. I was completely unaware of this wine and found it incredibly impressive.

Again a very herbal nose. Light to medium weight. Just off dry. Lemon and lime fruit with very good acidity but dilute. This showed poorly after the much higher quality GG.

Higher toned aromatics of herbs and fruit. Off dry entry with lemon and red apple. Fine acidity, excellent concentration, and a complex, mineral finish. Now this is more like it!

Lighter and more elegant than either of the 2 feinherbs, but clearly much sweeter and fruitier too, here with green apple and ripe citrus. Again, excellent acidity and a persistent finish dripping with stone. Very good.

Lower toned lively orange. Light to medium weight. Pure orange fruit with a higher intensity of slate and acidity. Great grip and penetration. Racy, balanced, and way too young.

Ripe fruits and a touch of honey. Exotic, atypical melange of melon and pear. Moderately sweet, low acidity, and a real fall off in the mid-palate. Late slate gives it some structure. Good now but unlikely to improve.

Complex, sophisticated nose unlike any of the other 2022s. Green and floral, it smells like something from a cooler year. Off dry. Elegant, poised, and balanced. Not quite the acidity of the 2021 that was shown, but excellent minerality. This may turn out to be one of the truly outstanding wines from this vintage. A privilege to taste this.

Fresh lime scents. Medium weight, surprisingly substantial. All minerals and green fruit. High enamel staining acidity. Very, very good for this level.

Morefloral than the straight trocken. Clean, dry, and light. Lemon/lime fruit and a similar profile but finer. Excellent dry wine.

Lower, deeper register of fruit on the nose. Rounder, more glycerine feel. Outstanding concentration of bass note citrus, mostly orange. Slightly lower acidity than the 2 preceding wines, but long, persistent, and full of soil. Great material here.

Light and off dry. Yellow fruit and orange followed by good acidity and excellent soil and minerality. Enjoyable now. Of course, it suffered in comparison to the profound Rausch GG served before it.

I had never heard of this wine which comes from a small patch of volcanic soil within the vineyard. Sure enough, very distinctive flinty aromas different from any other wine in the range. Light to medium weight. Off dry. A bit of exotic pineapple. Very good acidity and properly tart. Long, stony finish. I loved this unique wine and wish I had access to it.

Funky aromas with some slate but little fruit. Medium weight, slate base. Apple flavors, lower acidity and little intensity. Drinkable now.

Spice and fruit jump out of the glass. Light but fairly rich and sweet for Kabinett. Apple jelly, not that zingy but excellent back end slate.

Cooler, more restrained nose. You can almost smell the stone. Lighter and less sweet and rich than the Saarburger. Cherry (!!) and apple. Good acidity and even better slate to wrap things up. Excellent.

Tropical fruit mix and soil. Medium weight, rich entry of brown spice and apricot. Very good acidity but really driven by its great minerality. Incredible concentration and impact for a Kabinett. I’m sure this will be too exotic for some tastes, but I adored the combination of hedonistic fruit and real stoniness.

Floral, fruit forward aromas. Medium weight, lovely feel. Juicy apple and stone fruit. Moderate residual sugar, excellent acidity, and drenched with soil at the end. Wonderfully elegant while providing great mouth coverage. A beauty!

Medium yellow. Scents of pear and stone fruit. Light to medium weight, less sweet than the 2020 version. Creamy, piquant apple entry, outstanding acidity, long slatey finale. Unexpectedly impressive and at an early point of maturity. Outstanding.

Greenish yellow, youthful appearance. Honeyed nose. Discrete, delicate light to medium weight. Moderate sweetness, great acidic core, and a terrific stony finish. Subtle Auslese, shockingly good in terms of my expectations of the vintage. Fantastic way to conclude this great tasting.

Medium weight, great enveloping texture. Dry, lemony fruit, zingy acidity. Wow, the stone on the finish just doesn’t give up. Extraordinary drive and precision for the year.

Not sure whether this was one of the numbered fuders. Slightly more body and off dry orange peel fruit. Less strict than the Spätlese trocken but still excellent acidity. Again, the stone dust finish coats the tongue long after it leaves the mouth. Truly excellent.

Flowers and green herbs. Light, minimal sugar, sour lime, excellent acidity, and amazing stoniness. Fragrant and fine for its price (13 euros ex domain!!).

Also quite herbal. More glycerine and texture, quite saline, excellent acidity and soil. Harmonious with a complex finish. Also quite impressive at this level.

Flinty, smoky aromas. Light to medium weight, terrific acidity, saline, green apple and lime, minimal residual sugar, long vein of soil, and a rather lean, angular finish.

Herbal, floral aromatics. Medium body, rounder than Bruderberg. Fine earthiness throughout. Dry, seamless, and savory with apple fruit supporting the structure rather than vice versa. So refined and subtle. Outstanding potential.

Citrus and herb. Delicate and airy, yet potent with excellent mouth feel. Bitter citrus, minimal sweetness, moderate acidity, and jagged stoniness. Already breathtakingly complex. This should also be great, but it will need a ton of time (decades?).

Bit of sulfur, jasmine, and apple. Light to medium body. Off dry, bright citrus, zingy acidity, and fine minerality, although only moderate intensity and length.

Apple and peach with herb and ash in the background. Medium to light with creamy attack but drier finish. Surprisingly modest perception of sugar despite it having 65 grams. Lovely mineral finish. Very good and I preferred this to the Herrenberg. Ready in 3+ years.

Overripe peach and pineapple. Clearly Auslese level sweetness (80 grams). Lower acidity, exotic tropical fruit basket, little minerality. Honeyed, hedonistic, ready now, but after the initial showy burst it falls off quickly and the shape just isn’t there. Much too much and not what I’m looking for.

Medium yellow. Complex aromas-high toned and perfumed with a touch of honey. Wonderful medium weight, creamy feel, and tart stone fruit with excellent salinity. This is bouncy in a way that the 2018s are not, and it hides its 100 grams of residual sugar well. Rich entry yet beautifully pulled together on the back end. Now this is more like it! Excellent potential.

Dull yellow. Honey and baked peach. Rich, quite sweet (170 grams of sugar), pure Golden Delicious apple and yellow peach. Good acidity, medium length, and a smidgen of slate. Sumptuous but not a BA with long term potential.

Light yellow. Lime, herbs, and floral tones. Dry, nice feel, guava jelly, and structured more around soil than acidity.

Light greenish yellow. You can smell the soil and herbs. Slightly more weighty than the Himmelreich Kabinett with lower pitched apple flavors. Average acidity, but a clinging soil finish and strong salinity still give it excellent structure.

Medium yellow. Regal, earthy aromas. Medium bodied, some sweetness, average acidity, some texture. Ripe stone fruit accompanied by spice and late citrus. Excellent soil filled finish. I love it, but it just lacks the snap and tension to be truly outstanding.

Yellow. Slightly petrol earthy aromas. Light, dry, great acidity, classic long slate finish. Wow, a great young Kabinett and a wine that puts the lower acidity of the 2022s in perspective.

Deeper yellow. Slightly impure, honeyed nose. Not terribly sweet. Average acidity, good texture, not much soil to be found, and a shorter finish. Not a great success.
