This seems close to peak, but not quite there. An old world bordeaux frame that punches above its price.

30 minute decant then poured into the bottle and drank about 1.5 hours later. Tons of funk, very rustic nose. Nice red fruit, tobacco, spice and loam. This is quite smooth, but it is rustic.

It was neat to try the 1995, 2000 and 2005 all in one flight. The 1995 was at peak and fully mature, with a complex and tertiary frame. The 2000 was not quite ready yet, still tannic and slightly primary. The 2005 was nowhere near ready, with primary fruit and un-integrated oak.

Drank a small glass over 2 hours. This wine is funky and young, clearly Bordeaux. This drank surprisingly well at this age, with cassis, funk, slight bacon and graphite. 92 today with lots of potential.

Earth, leather, bramble, a bit rustic with anise and beef blood. This seemed more full and fruity than the 1995 Lagrange and also a bit less complex.

A fairly classic Barton profile, tobacco, cedar, forest floor, violets.

There was a distinct mint and/or vegetal quality to this wine that played well with the fruit, earth and tobacco.

France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
This champagne had a cool bready funkynesss to it, and it ends in a crisp way.

Just a bit better than the 2008's. Yeasty and powerful.

A fine and relatively unremarkable champagne. Acceptable at the NV level.

2020 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 93 Points
France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Now this got my attention! Waxy and lemony, with a richness and unctuous quality. 93 is probably conservative due to a small glass. If I had half the bottle, it'd probably be higher.
