Hong Kong visit

Introduction

Visiting Hong Kong this week and while looking at the menu of Bistro Breton at 321 Des Voux Roud West, a very friendly lady asked us in to have a look at the wine cellar. The manager mr. William Ngui told me that I could taste the wines first before ordering one. That is good hospitality in a restaurant as far as I am concerned. So we decided to eat our supper here.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2018 Jean-Luc Colombo Côtes du Rhône Les Abeilles 88 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

    Ripe red berry fruits in the bouquet, as well as some mild garrigue/herbs and spiciness. Same on the palate, beautiful and mild acidity and tannin. Very pleasurable wine.

  • 2018 Domaines Devillard Givry Le Renard 88 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Givry

    Red berries, some cherries and spiciness in the bouquet. Same on the palate, red and dark berries as well, fairly full bodied, Good acidity and round tannin. Good length. Ready now and the next few years.

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc

    In the bouquet dark fruits, cherries and some red berries as well, Some herbaceous as well as rustic impressions. There is some slight development in the wine, but the tannin still has a bite and is a bit green. There is good acidity and the wine will probably develop for the better over the next 3+ years.
