From 3L. Black and red cherry with spice and earth hints, wonderful balance.

Alongside the 1989, both wonderful, I think this 1990 was ever-so-slightly better with greater balance, even if less power.

Alongside the 1990, both wonderful, I think this 1989 was an ever-so-slight step behind the 1990. Despite it being more powerful, it didn't have quite the same balance.

Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Good richness to start with plenty of brightness middle through finish. This will hold well for a while going forward. I think this was the 1st vintage.

Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Very Vosne-charactered with red fruit and Asian five spice. Good weight and depth, just not at the same level of this wine in its best vintages.

Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. From magnum. Rich and robust, showing vintage ripeness and its typical Vosne styling. Upside from here, as this still seems to need to shed some baby fat.

Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Bright and wonderfully balanced with the sense of style typical of the best Méo-Camuzet wines. In its peak drinking window. Lots of nuance and finesse.

Opened and decanted a few hours before tasting. Clearly ripe, starting to mature and soften. I would have expected more nuance from Chambertin at this stage, but still very tasty.

Something was slightly off and muted here, was it ever-so-slightly corked?

Magnum, Perhaps slightly corked.

Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Black fruit and meat are getting tired. Not nearly as interesting as a few bottles from a couple of years ago.

Double decanted a few hours in advance. Very rich while wonderfully balanced layered cherry with a complex spice box. Unlike vintage Unico, I find Especial has the same profile but is this accessible much sooner.

2020 Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Les Masures 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Bright, energetic, and taut with plenty of orchard fruit, very good for Village level wine, but somewhat simple.

2014 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 90 Points
France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Citrus and citrus peel with good weight and impeccable balance.

2019 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Ripe red and black berries with a floral flourish. Saline Chambolle textures throughout with a firm finish for now.

2021 Domaine Michel Lafarge Beaune 1er Cru Grèves 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Bright and elegant, this is surprisingly accessible with lots of floral and spice notes to start, then lots of bright red fruit with vibrant textures. Good young.

1993 Domaine Leroy Pommard Les Vignots
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Not as aromatically forthcoming as expected, but well spiced on palate with earth and mature red cherry. Certainly good, but not at the typical Leroy level of excellence.

2013 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts 95 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Perfumed nose demanded your attention. Rich enough flavors with excellent density, combined nicely with best elements of the earthy elegance of the 2013 vintage.

2018 Rose & Arrow Pinot Noir TOUCHSTONE
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Complex red and black fruit on nose and palate with lots going on. Still slightly firm and nearly awkward, but you can see this is going somewhere beautiful. Perhaps 92 points today, this could have used more air, and 93-94+ point potential.

1982 Château Ausone
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Magnum from the Château. Wonderful nose of a great aged Bordeaux, then less harmonious on palate, while still nicely tasty. Others enjoyed this more.

2014 Château Ausone
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Savory and sweet spice with charming black fruit and sneaky good weight and length. Great balance, very good already now.

2015 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Acclivi
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Alluring aromas but firm palate giving little pleasure at present.

2010 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. So much here, so much potential with lots of dark fruits, more than typical for great Barolo. Lots of potential, this is close to entering its first phase of approachability and enjoyment. Certainly 92-94 point potential.

2000 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo 93 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Not powerful or flashy, but so complex, layered, and harmonious. My preferred style of Barolo. Will easily drink well for another decade+.

1945 Château Canon
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Walk around tasting, brief note from memory. Tasted 10-15 minutes after popped-and-poured. Enchanting aromas, the best of aged and enticing Bordeaux. Good flavors, less exciting but still beguiling. This was 92 points for me, but I'm told this put on weight and picked up intensity with more air.
