  • NV Gaston Chiquet Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs d'Aÿ 90 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

The nose is fresh and balanced with pears, almonds, biscuits, toast, red apples, nougat, yellow florals, and vanilla notes. This is open-knit and balanced with good depth and style. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and textured with lively, high acidity. This is a lovely and fresh Blanc de blancs that hits all of the spots you want it to.

  • 2020 Jérôme Prévost Champagne La Closerie Extra Brut Les Beguines 93 Points

    France, Champagne

From the first sniff, this is expressive and robust with deep tones of red apples, quince, nectarines, bosc pears, toast, nougat, brioche, yellow flowers, some wood notes, and vanilla beans. There is so much complexity here with it showing off the powerful side of Meunier. The Medium bodied feel shows off the robustness of the nose while possessing tart, high acidity. This is such a killer champagne when it's on. The acidity has some sharp edges right now but it isn't too far away from shedding its youthfulness. It could likely use a couple of years to fully calm down and round into form.

  • NV Savart Champagne Premier Cru l'Ouverture Brut

    France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru

Two Savarts in a short span? Here's me complaining. This is showing exactly like it did a little over a week ago but stuck out a little more in this setting due to its style

  • NV Pehu Simonet Champagne Grand Cru Face Nord Brut 90 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

The nose is balanced and fragrant with peaches, bosc pears, red apples, jasmine, white flowers, red berries, biscuits, toast, and some baking spices. There is good depth here with an open-knit style that shows off decent complexity. The Medium bodied feel shows off the balance of the nose along with tart, high acidity. This is consistently good and a constant value in Champagne that doesn't attempt to be anything that it is not.

  • 2021 Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Champagne Blanc de Noirs Côte de Val Vilaine 93 Points

    France, Champagne

Even in a big lineup where you get smaller pours, this stands out for great reasons. The tones of vanilla, red berries, biscuits, red apples, pears, nectarines, chamomile, red florals, and some mineral notes meld beautifully together in the glass. The Medium bodied feel is textured and refined with refreshing, high acidity. This feels like it will really blossom with 5+ years. It has a lot of great hallmarks now and with a youthful verve, but there is clearly more for it to give in time.

  • NV Marguet Champagne Premier Cru Yuman 20 Blanc de Blancs 88 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru

The nose shows off a touch of wood on the framing along with biscuits, nectarines, almonds, red and green apples, bosc pears, hazelnuts, cider, toasty notes, and yellow fruits. The Medium bodied feel carries over some of the woody notes and the cidery tones are a bit more prominent along with tart, high acidity. If you like a nattier style, this is for you. This is a wine I personally struggle with a bit as there are parts I enjoy and parts that I don't. So, I'm glad that people open this for me and I can just take down the data point.

  • NV Eric Rodez Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Brut 89 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

The nose is flowing with nougat, brioche, red apples, quince, kumquat, toasty notes, wood, red berries, and yellow flowers. The toasty and woody notes do dominate a bit more than I expected. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and textured with crisp, high acidity. The acidity is mouthwatering and refreshing while the finish has some staying power. This was a somewhat hard wine to get a hold of in some senses. The autolytics and wood notes were the main drivers while the fruit took a bit of a back seat.

  • NV Egly-Ouriet Champagne Les Prémices 91 Points

    France, Champagne

The nose is complex and leaning into the autolytic side as it fills the glass with brioche, toast, spiced pears, red apples, quince, red berries, nectarines, baking spices, yellow flowers, and toasty notes. The Medium bodied feel is textured and balanced with crisp, high acidity that shows off an integrated quality. This is a lovely and balanced wine that shows off the Egly style beautifully while being more accessible.

  • 2015 Christophe Mignon Champagne ADN de Foudre 88 Points

    France, Champagne

The nose leans more into the woody tones with bruised apple, quince, nectarines, biscuits, onion skin, nougat, creams, baking spices, and toasty notes. The Medium bodied feel shows off good texture along with tart, high acidity that shows off good integration already. The wood notes stuck out a bit much here and somewhat dominated the wine. This was a bit clunky and somewhat directionless on the nose and palate. This wasn't as expressive as I expected and a bit of a dissapointment.

  • NV Benoît Lahaye Champagne Rose de Maceration 91 Points

    France, Champagne

The nose is fresh and complex with red berries, bright red cherries, rose petals, saline, peaches, nectarines, toasty notes, biscuits, vanilla, and some pears. There is good depth and style here as it really leans into the red fruits over autolytics. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and fresh with tart, high acidity. The acidity is really refreshing and provides a great spine while the red fruits on the nose are expressive on the feel. This is just as lovely as the bottle I had last year. This has shown excellent consistency with it going more into the red fruits.
