Wines are tasted double blind in flights, which are arranged randomly, but as much as possible from light to heavy. Each flight is discussed & unveiled before moving on to the next flight.
Blind. Light youthful color. Notes of lychee and rose petals- very pretty and rather distinct. Gooseberry and lychee, with hints of spice and stone fruit. 92-93 pts.

Blind. Subtle; lychee and pear. Not as expressive as the first in the lineup.

Blind. A hint of bricking, showing some age. Currants, tobacco and violet aromas. A bit thin on the palate but as this breathed in the glass it put on weight as well. Black currant dominates the palate. Lovely. 92+ pts. This had been double decanted off its sediment about ninety minutes before the flight was poured and had remained back under cork up to the last minute. In hindsight I should have left it uncorked to breathe in bottle or given it a half hour decant to fully awaken.

Double blind. Herb, iron and crrant notes with an earthy undertone. Medium-bodied with softened tannin. Red berry fruit on the palate with iodine hints. Guessed Bordeaux. (MM)

Double blind. Buttered popcorn and vanilla overtones with black fruit underneath. Full-bodied. Black fruit and vanilla on the palate. Somewhat straightforward and simple, and I find that buttery element distracting. (R&D)

Double blind. Bouillon and dark fruit notes. The bouillon carries through on the palate, finishing a little shorter than I’d like. Picks up some interesting notes of tar and pepper as it sits in the glass. (MM)

Double blind, with notes of herbs, dark fruit and pepper. Black fruit and earthy/funky on the palate- seems like it might have some brettanomyces taint. (T&L)

Blind. Aromas of black raspberry and dark fruit with roasted game and pepper undertones. Medium-bodied. Abundant dark fruit on the palate with spice carrying through the finish. We were perhaps halfway through the flight when I suspected this might be our mourvedre.
This had been double decanted about ninety minutes before the flight was poured. An excellent wine and drinking nicely right now.

Double blind. Notes of bouillon and sour red fruit. A touch hot, perhaps also a bit of VA in there too. Much better on the palate, with red fruit and peppery spice flavors. (M&R)
