Blind tasting of 10 Aligote’s from great producers. The wines has been tasted the day before and given different amounts of air based on the tasting
[Tasted blind] Pale yellow greenish in color, medium- intensity with white floral notes, herbs, fire stone, bitter note. A slight chemcial note. Medium+ acidity and medium finish. Thin on the nose and watery on the palate
Part of 10 Aligote’s tasted blind with Anne Boisson, Comte Armand, Pierre Boisson, Coche Dury, Fabien Coche, Nicolas Faure, Charles Lachaux, Cassiopee, Ramonet and Leroy

[Tasted blind] Stood next to Anne Boisson’s Aligote. Pale yellow in color, medium intensity, more weight than Anne Boisson; floral, sur lie, bitter note, apple, pear. More concentration. Medium+ aciidty, long finish. Good complexity

[Tasted blind] This stood next to the Coche Dury Aligote, and this was clearly better. A bit more color than the previous flight (medium yellow) and almost medium+ in intensity on the nose. More concentration with fire stone, pear, peach, melon, some oak? Medium+ acidity, long and evolving finish. Richer, more expressive, more complex. One of my favorites this tasting. 92-93

[Tasted blind] This stood next to Pierre Boisson Aligote 2020 and Pierre Boisson was clearly the better wine. Pale yellow in color with some petrol, white flowers, green apple, some bitter notes. Lean. High acidity, medium+ finish

[Tasted blind] Very pale in color, with medium intensity with citrus, herbs, unripe conference pear, floral, some flint. Medium+ acidity with a medium+ finish. Softer on the palate than on the nose. Came across as a bit shallow and one-dimensional. 88-89

[Tasted blind] If I hadn’t known that all served wines were aligote, I might have easily called Chenin with some age because of the oxidative nature of the wine. Very different from the first 5 aligote’s. Pale yellow in color with medium(+?) intensity with aroma’s of bruised (but fresh) yellow apples, lemon cake, not as much herbs as the others. Medium+ acidity with a long finish. Beautiful mouthfeel. Could also be mistaken for older champagne. 91-92

[Tasted blind] This was my #2 of the night; a brilliant nose and an equally impressive palate! Happy to see that some hypes make sense (although (secondary market) prices do not of course). A slight reductive note, as with Faure some Chenin resemblance. Pear, yellow apple. A lot of concentration. A flavor explosion on the palate, a fresh fruit cocktail, orange peel, freshly squeezed fruit juice. Medium+ acidity, long finish. Great to have been able to taste this, wow

[Tasted blind] This stood (up) next to Lachaux Les Champs d’Argent. Also very good, just not as good. Medium+ intensity, also exidative with bruised yellow apple. A bit more stuffing. Bordering on Vin Nature.

[Tasted blind] This was just outright spectacular (blind) and even more so when bottles were revealed. This was my WOTN over Coche, Lachaux and Leroy, all 5-10 times as expensive. Pale yellow with a green note, medium+ intensity on the nose, quite reductive and with time showing more of its beautiful fruit profile. Very linear and lean. Great concentration. 93+

[Tasted blind] This was very good, but it did not make it into my top-3 of the night. Medium intensity. Very reductive, almost barnyard like. Dough, frites. Great concentration. Very, very long finish

[Tasted blind] Bonus bottles after the tasting so no detailed notes. I called premier cru Chassagne from a good producer, which shows the quality of this wine. Lovely reductive note, but great fruit and acidity

[Tasted blind] Bonus bottles after the tasting, so no detailed notes. Good, but it stood up to quite some good bottles, and it was overshadowed by them.

[Tasted blind] Bonus bottle after the tasting so no detailed notes. Great fruit quality, but very young at this moment

[Tasted blind] Bonus bottle after the tasting, so no detailed notes. This was typical Gevrey, but even for Gevrey a bit on the rustic side for me. A serious amount of barnyard which put me off a bit

[Tasted blind] Bonus bottle after the tasting, no detailed notes. Pop and pour and that is something that does not work. The tannins were a full main course to chew on. Leave it in the cellar for 8-10 years or give it plenty air

Very interesting results; for me top 3:
1) Ramonet
2) Lachaux
3) Pierre Boisson
Coche, Leroy and Faure did not make it to the top 3…

Easy going, not very special or standing out. Had a strange sensation of sweetness in the finish. High acidity, medium finish
