Dark berries on the nose and palate. Carries some grip and structure, along with a little earthiness. Restrained and interesting, a good bottle of zin. 88+

Holding up very well a year later. Enjoyable berry fruit on the nose. Bright, lush raspberries on the soft palate. Both easy to drink, and extremely enjoyable. I really enjoy zin's in this style. 89+

  • 2006 Seghesio Family Vineyards Zinfandel Sonoma County 89 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County

Much like the pezzi king, except riper, richer, and darker. Manages to do all of that without being heavy handed. It's a question of the style you like, but both the Pezzi King and the Seghesio do a fine job. Yummy.

Flight 3 (3 Notes)

  • 2005 Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel Harris Kratka Vineyard 87 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley

Not as bruising as I expected, but still a pretty big bottle of wine. A little funk on this, as well. Ok, but seems overpriced to me.

  • 2006 Cline Cellars Zinfandel Live Oak Vineyard 88 Points

USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County

Eucalyptus notes on this, which I love with the contrast of the berries. Med+ bodied, and ready to roll. Quite nice, but maybe a little simple for a $30 zin. 88+

  • 2004 Jeff Cohn Cellars Zinfandel Arrowhead Mountain 91 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley

It's strange how I keep ending up tasting this without neccesarily wanting to. We've done 2 zin tastings in the last year and a half, and poured this at both of them. This is the best showing I've seen with this wine. Lots of mint notes jump out of the glass on this wine. It's still huge, decadant and perhaps too much for some, but the structure is there to make it work, and allows this wine to be a hedonistic delight. If I had some of these, I'd start drinking 'em right about now.
