Well - this was an amazing evening. Huge thanks to Michel for putting this together. The food was outstanding. It was great to see all the people and meet all of you guys and finally place a face onto the screen-name.
we started with a nice sparkler that i unfortunatly (can you believe it? ) forgot to take the label off of :) Michael what was it?
it had a cava-like profile of light green apples but with a more yeasty overtone. great apertif!
Appetizers of Salad with shredded duck confit, figs stuffed with gorgonzola and wraped in speck, sauteed tripe with prosciutto
Ravioli with veal sweetbreads sauteed porchini
Roasted Lamb Loin with dried prunes
Cheese and toast, Tallegio, Santa Teresa, Caccio di Bosco, Sottocenere
Chocolate mousse and Cheese Cake
Thanks for a wonderfull evening!

Still young - but this is the only bottle that was mature barolo! pure truffle nose with forest floor... this is as smooth of a nose as one would ask from a burgundy. the palatte follwes - completly resolved tannins...silky smooth...sour cherry (i had more sour cherry tonight that ever in my life - ALL the wines had a sour cherry as the dominant fruit and i LOVE sour cherry!)
this is what i hope to see from barolo - and after this tasting i understand that ANYTHING younger than 20 years is just not ready - they may be delicious but this was PURE silky and light - a song of a wine

Drier than the Renato, less mushrooms more power. this is still too young and rather tight. i think this will be a good wine in a few years - it has great balance. but it didnt seem to have the depth of some of the others.

this was showing poorly when opened. completly closed. but after a few hours this really began to open. Sangiovese can be this smooth? ridiculous depth on the nose. Very light body. the only non dry chyrry profile tonight. more red berries and - i could not believe myself - PINE needles.. YUM!!! give it 10 years!
