This was a gourmet pizza night for several friends both new and old. Chris and Janet came up from Chicago, Hilton and Leslie from down the street, our best friend Beth and Chef Michael stole a couple of hours from his restaurant to join us. All in all a great night to enjoy the wines, Turley, some champagne and dessert wines.
This is our signature meal for friends and their children. Most recently we donated the dinner to a charity and the bid for over $5500. So this was a dry run for the event in two weeks. All in all the eveing was a great success. I served all of the Turley's blind for the group and then we ranked them A-E. The number one wine was both the Aida Petite Sryah and the Black Sears. The wines were really so close that it was hard to seperate them. These wines can last another decade!
Tbe evening had to come to a conclusion and a nice way to end the evening.
1983 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut 95 Points
France, Champagne
Old and bold. Opened this as a prelude to a dinner for 8. Good bottles dark color showing the age. Good on the palate. A wonderful way to start the evening with new and old friends.
