I don’t get to drink a lot of Champagne, but with this selling for $20 at the local Costco, I could hardly afford not to stock up.

I get crisp apple cider notes without the doughy flavors that others have noted. It’s pleasant, simple, and well-balanced. The acidity is there, but it’s not obtrusive.

Tasted after about a six hour decant, as per the instructions from the podcast. The nose here is ready for business. Black cherries, mulberry, some peppery notes, and a but of a meaty/sanguine character from the mourvedre.

The structure is definitely there now--both the acid and the tannin. But nothing feels overwhelming and the fruit balanced it out. The nose on this wine is such a combination of the dark fruit and the peppery/savory elements, but on the palate the wine is more about freshness. Very nice, this is super good now with a long decant, but it has the weight and stuffing to age. Very good.

Syrupy kind of PN, not my favorite style. Interesting notes, including dark cherry and some charcoal. Agree with the notes that called it disjointed. Not the right bottle of PN for salmon.

Opened with a quick chill, drinking well, no oak, 12% alcohol. Not quite a Rhone but a nice version of mountain Syrah. Would love to be in Savoie. Yum.

Truth is that I drank one bottle, thoroughly enjoyed it, but made no note, then bought another. Which I drank last night with beef and broccoli and again thoroughly enjoyed. This is on the richer side of CF, but still very fresh tasting. Boysenberries, black cherry, not a lot of tannin. No real vegetal notes, which some don't like in their CF but I find refreshing in small quantities. Time to buy more and store for the fall/winter holidays.

This is crappy wine. It has too much VA that masks all the flavour. In this case "natural" as a cover up of errors in the cellar.

Decanted for 3 hours, Blackberry, smoked meat notes, some black pepper, this is very well integrated and smooth, with a nice full mouth feel. I'm sure it will age well, but its drinking so darn nice now.

Less acidity than I would have expected from a Chianti Classico. Rather plummy (20% Cab and Merlot?) and exhibiting tertiary vegetal notes reminiscent of some aged Shiraz. There's also some faint lead pencil on the finish. Seemingly atypical thus, but enjoyable, just don't pair it with tangy tomato sauce. 13.5% ABV.

Expressive nose. Rich, ripe fruit, with lots of buttery oak and a little spice. Medium-bodied, with a silky texture and integrated tannins. Not my favorite style of Pinot Noir, but good for what it is. It was a good match with a pan-fired chuck steak and sauteed green peppers, but it's not the kind of Pinot that does well with a wide variety of foods. Only fair value at $19.

This bottle, purchased in the April 2021 Garagiste offer, showed seepage. I cleaned it up and used the Ah-So, still breaking the cork about two-thirds down, so filtered into a decanter. This was very nice, a well-aged, medium-bodied wine that worked well with our meal. Enough to go with a braised beef gnocci dish while elegant and medium-bodied enough to work with a pasta dish, saffron with clams, pancetta, tomato, breadcrumbs.

(The bottle of this that I was even fonder of, tasted March 2021, was purchased from the Garagiste March 2020 offer.)
