4/8/2024 - Bubba Rum Das Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis is mellowing very nicely. Lovely garnet colour, comparable to a quality pinot noir straight out of the bottle. I let it breathe for a few minutes before tasting. Slight floral nose, complex fruitiness in the mouth with a hint of spice, and a nice, long finish suggesting fresh peach. Could well have been a little sharper a year or two ago - but I try to age good reds at least 5 years, and this has rewarded me! Very happy that I have several more bottles in the cellar! |

Leather, funk, earthy, graphite, gravel minerality, purple fruit, smoke, woodsy spices, full bodied with a satin texture. Excellent. |

2019 Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignonmore |
3/31/2024 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 90 pointsAlexander Valley Vineyards' Cabernet is usually an unpretentious, fruit-forward, softly-textured wine that is fun to drink; the 2019 vintage is no exception. A deep ruby blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot that was aged for 14 months in an unspecified combination of French and American oak barrels (25% new), it was tasted over a three-hour interval from a bottle that had been popped and poured. Fully opening after the first two hours to offer scents of Bing cherries, red currants, Kalamata olives, baking spices, licorice and marzipan, it is a medium-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.0%) wine that delivers a flavor payload mirroring the nose. The oak and sweet tannins are nicely integrated at this point and the mid-palate is solid. Medium-to-long and silky-textured on the finish, this is a seductive, easy-drinking Cab that represents terrific value. Drink now-2036. |

Fourth year in a row their Cab Sav stands well above the competition. And this one is so young, can't wait to see what it does in a few years. |

3/10/2024 - gharter Likes this wine: 89 pointsPnP. Very light for a rose. Opens with crisp aromas of watermelon, melon, cherry, minerals and raspberry. Similar flavors with watermelon, raspberry, peach, stone fruit, and minerals. Bright acidity keeps it from getting falbby. |

2/28/2024 - oakville72 Likes this wine: 88 pointsGreat color. Berry and oak accented nose with a touch of green fruit. Somewhat astringent and raw entry with an undeveloped, almost chemical flavor — not in a negative way, but my impression is that this wine is perhaps TOO well made. That is, it lacks oxygenation during fermentation and development. I am a fan of Alexander Valley Vineyards because of their great Sangiovese Rosé, Gewürztraminer and the fact that they are still family owned, unlike so many historic California wineries. Plus, they have kept their prices reasonable, a benefit particularly for new wine drinkers. 42% Merlot, 40% Zinfandel, 18% mixed reds. |

1/30/2024 - jmoore431 Likes this wine: 90 pointsDeep purple colored; nose of deeply perfumed Cabernet cassis, licorice, just hints of red bell pepper; palate is juicy, mercifully more on the dry side than the drippy sweet stuff you too often get at this price point. Eminently drinkable here in its youth though I think it should age and soften out a bit over years. Excellent for $18.99 at Costco. 90+ |

1/27/2024 - 3daywinereview.com Likes this wine: 94 pointsDay 1: Solid bottling but suspect this is not showing as well as it has been a wine shop shelf vertical for too long. Cork came out clean so that was good. Leather, red currants, mild spice, tobacco, gravel and blueberries. On the pop and pour I think this will improve over a few days. 91 points. Day 1.5: better. Beautiful wine with menthol, red currants, gravel, tobacco, spice, blueberries, earth and minerals. Super concentrated wine and long finish. Outstanding. 94 points. |
