Paso Robles Adelaida District Red Rhone Blend more

Bright medium ruby color, no sediment. Cherry, cranberry, rasberry. Medium+ acidity. Juicy. Enjoyable but the finish is my least favorite as the heat tends to linger. Drank a couple of night via coravin and enjoyed more after actually opening the bottle and decanting it. I'll wait a couple of years before opening another bottle.

Plenty of black berries with near-sweet spice and a touch of humus. I like the richness juxtaposed with enough brightness here, but find a bit too much pronounced whole cluster interferes with the otherwise fine balance. Still, certainly good and nicely complex.

Deep ruby. Ripe and rounded with dark red berry fruit in a plush, velvety frame. Mid length, obviously still about the youthful fruit and some years off developmental complexity. Good with steak tartare.***

Sweet fig, brandy, leather, black tea. Very ungrenache like. Heavy and sweet.
More Zin and Old Fashion cocktail than Grenache. Big and oozy, boozy, sweet and gloopy.
The ‘21 was more restrained. How did it get to this point? Disappointing Turley.

A beauty. Sweet prunes and olives with cedar and smoke. Dark brooding fruit bursts out of the glass. A nice undercurrent of acidity gives this lots of energy. Superfine tannins tucked away in the background. A hedonistic wine like a top Aussie Shiraz.

For a Cabernet Sauvignon around $20 this is a good wine. But you have to decant at least three hours before drinking. Took it to a blind tasting and everyone liked it. After decanting the body was full, slightly tannic and almost everyone went with a California Bordeaux blend. I’ll be picking more of this up.

Incredible denseness and mouthcoating tannins, this wine kills it. Muddled blueberry, macerated huckleberry, charcoal, grilled fennel, double dose of licorice and white pepper. Depth, class, hedonism in a 98-point wrapper.

OK this was interesting to me. I recently had the 2022 which knocked my socks off and IMHO is drinking great now. This showed the same qualities but was more restrained. And I recently had the 2021 Dragonette from the same vineyard which also showed potential but seemed to need a few more years to show its stuff. So I’m going to infer that it is a vintage phenomenon, ie 2022 warmer end of season and showing better now, 2021 cooler and maybe ages better. I’d say 91 now and 93-94 potential. We’ll see!

So I bought a cellar; 11/12/2022-12/31/2030: Second and last bottle of this. This bottle is so much different than the first. Cork was 2/3 soaked, but came out in one piece with a Durand. In the glass, there is some bricking, but generally a deep red with good clarity. The nose has a hint of green pepper or vegetable, but it doesn’t blow me over like the other bottle did. Big acid on the palate, which makes the old fruit profile taste brighter. No tannins, but cranberry, red fruit, a bit of leather. It is falling off quickly, but quite the surprise after the bottle last year. Looks like I have the very last one on all of CellarTracker…

Based on our previous TNs we decanted this bottle for 20 minutes and cooled it to true room temp (~68F). The result was a very enjoyable bottle of this great wine. The color was dark purple and there were lots of dark red and some black fruits on the nose. These dark red and black fruits were joined by a hefty dose of spice, some earth and light minerality on the medium plus bodied palate with acidity that was up to the task of balancing the fruit. This wine probably has many enjoyable years ahead.

Beautiful watermelon color. The nose gushes with strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, along with salty, seashell tones, and plenty of breezy meadow, wildflowers, hay, and basil. Deep texture on the palate with brisk acidity and pure fruit flavors (strawberries, raspberries, white cherries). The non-fruit complexities really make this wine sing, and I get notes of mint, wildflowers, chalk dust, limestone, some green tea. Complex and rich but crushably delicious, too.

Pale rose color with a light spritz. The aromas sport tangy red cherries, red apple peel, wild raspberries, mixed with complex tones of dandelion, white pepper, celery seed, some orange zest in there as well. Crisp and punchy on the palate with zesty acidity, fine bubbles, and a nice textural depth. The flavors of crunchy red apples, raspberries, and cherries blend well with notes of minerals, talc, white pepper, dried roses. Pure fun but also packed with complexity. Crowd-pleasing and should be a hit with wine nerd crowds, too. Don’t let the twist cap fool you, this is good stuff.
