[Restaurant purchase] A great bottle, but a tad too ripe to be amazing, shows the warm vintage (not necessarily in the alcohol but in the fruit). Medium+ intensity on the nose with roses, tar, licorice, sour cherry, hint of brett? Medium+ acidity, high tannins, long finish

Outstanding WA Syrah - it lives in between the rocks and Columbia Valley in terms of the extremes of purity and funk.

Wow. Terrific restaurant buy. Opened restrained on the nose but effusive on the palate and 30 min of air dramatically improved the nose.
Nose of Floral, Pear, melon, lemon zest, buttered toast. Palate followed suit with a vibrancy and freshness. Great balance.
Dry, medium to medium+ acidity, med alcohol, medium finish (bit of disappointing there).
Drink now or cellar for a couple of years.

Pale salmon color. Drank a glass over 40 minutes on Scott's deck, from half bottle. Always pleasant, may not quite the verve from this half bottle, but still classy with red berries and nice chalk.

[Restaurant purchase] This showed beautifully tonight. Medium+ intensity on the nose with typical CF aroma’s but in an complex and elegant way: green bell bell pepper, hint of barnyard, earthiness, red fruit, cranberry. Medium+ acidity, long finish. 93-94

[Restaurant purchase] No detailed notes. Medium+ intensity on the nose. Ripe, oxidative notes, flint, nutty, bruised yellow apple. Medium+ acidity, long finish. 92-93

Stood next to the Lamy Caillat and while that was clearly the better wine, this went better with the food

Light gold color. Drank a couple glasses over 2 hours. Ordered from the list at The Compound. The nose has a lot going for it with prominent floral tones, ripe stone fruit, and sweet oak; pear with more nuanced peach and lemon fruit. The palate comes off as plush, fleshy and ripe, with what I would call restrained opulence, ripe and layered, medium-full bodied, stone fruit and lemon, some sense of minerality but lacking some in cut. There's plenty to like here and the style is somewhat of a hybrid, though more ripe and the oak needs more time to fully integrate. I think the scores are outrageous, but this merits a couple years to see where it goes. 91+(+)pts now, some upside of a point, maybe two.

This wine is a monster in the most flattering sense! At the age of 10, it exudes tremendous poise and boasts a rock-solid structure. Its fading color should not deceive you; this intrinsic Nuits Saint Georges has a brave future ahead. I once stood in the cellars of Domaine Chevillon, savoring samples of an another vintage, and this wine transports me back to those caves with the swoosh of a magic wand. In unforeseen time, it might stand among the best modern Burgundies ever crafted. I sincerely hope to live long enough to express, with decades of enthusiasm held back, 'Oh, how lovely!

dry apricot, some white floral notes, honeysuckle, rich honey-like sweetness, well balanced with acidity, Viognier late harvest is not usually seen in NZ, but this one is thoughtfully made and fully completed, well done. can be confidently hold in cellar for the next 5 years.

Medium ruby showing no ageing at the moment. Wild strawberry, earthy, bramble, violet, raspberry, black plum. Cinnamon on palate. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins, medium body. Crunchy, electric, surprisingly earthy and enjoyable. Showing good potential for further development.

It’s so light that it’s closer to a rose or something. This is a brunch cab and certainly has its market. That market is just not me.

Delicious and I found no need to decant although it broadened with some air. Very gulpable from cork popping to the last glug. Southern Rhone inspired blend but with Syrah dominant plus 3% Petite Syrah to this richly red-fruited blend all California in character. Nothing of the garrigue or funk. The Dream of Spring was perfect on a cool rainy Oregon Spring evening.

This came across somewhere in between the '21 Carillon Referts and the '20 P. Morey Perrieres, and boy, it was quite impressive. More apparent reductive notes, with struck-match & flint on the nose. Layered & textured mouthfeel enveloping the ripe lemony fruit. Again, this will definitely get better with a few more years of ageing.

Candied apricot and pineapple alongside baking spices and a nice balance of acid. Surprisingly lively (almost effervescent) on the palate alongside a bit of sugary tropical fruit unctuousness. Finish is relatively brief, but has a nice candy-fruit aftertaste. A lot of tiki drink flavors, interestingly. Seems like it has some potential to age, but not too long (maybe 3 years or so?).

A very good representative of Petits Monts terroir -- medium-light, intense, red fruits, good penetration and depth, a little minerality. Cellared since original release.

A "rounder" wine than the '21 Carillon Referts. Amidst some reductive notes, the wood/oak was still discernable but not intrusive. Primarily citrus on the nose, with a teeny bit of orange-peel. This felt more weighty/concentrated, but still had the freshness to counter-balance. Already delicious, this should also improve with more cellar age.

This is different from the GG bottling from the same vineyard; it tastes to me as though it might have been younger vines. Light, energetic, mineral, clear -- a pretty wine, but lacking the depth and concentration that this vineyard can give.

My first Bedrock Cabernet. Love their zins and blends. PnP. Opens with floral, cassis, plum, cocoa, cedar, spice and mint aromas. On the palate this is light to medium body. Blue and black fruits, cocoa, spices, plum flavors. Next to no tannin noted and a very short finish. Not a bad wine, but not at the level I was expecting. 2 more bottles, so maybe it will put on weight in the next few years.

Decanted (into Voss) ~2+hrs before serving. Pale-yellow colored, this was perhaps the more linear & fine amongst the 3 whites ('20 P. Morey Perrieres, '20 O. Leflaive Referts) this evening. Primary nose - citrus, lemons, just a faint hint of white-flowers. Minerality abound, this had class & purity and a nice finish! Should continue to improve given more cellar age.

It does not get any better than this show stopper of a wine! At first pour, you notice the deep inky purple which hints at the robustness to come. On the nose, dark fruit, vanilla and chocolate flirt your senses. The rich, thick dark fruit is layered with hints of tobacco, black pepper and earth tones. The robust palate paired with just-enough tannins to give you something to "chew on" make this an exceptionally balanced wine. One of my all time favorite California Rhone blends- for best results, pair with filet.

Still has a deep purple color. Intense dark cherry nose, almost cough syrup, with a metallic tang. Dark cherry palate as well, plus strawberry, wintergreen, wet earth and tobacco. Medium body, low medium acid. Soft tannins. Nice finish. Very good

Deep flavors, but good balance. Had the oily citrus you’d expect, but was nicely balanced. My advice with this one is to give it some air. A few hours…the air allowed the fruit to flesh out and, for whatever reason, the acidity to wake up.

Three years since my last bottle, and I continue to sing this wine's praises despite it's not appealing to everyone. What I love are the herbal notes. The potpourri of herbs add richness, complexity, and body to dried/dehydrated fruit flavors of raspberry and cranberry. One friend was ambivalent and called this a "food wine". That's not my take. I prefer the dry herbal notes without food, because food can mask or overwhelm the wine, and I enjoy the dry herbal notes unaccompanied. Another friend was more complimentary. I think the Envinate Canary Island reds are singular and fully worthy of the Wine Advocate praise. One friend liked this at cellar temperature upon pop and pour, but I preferred it with some warmth and air, which softened enhanced a round herbal mouthfeel.

Whoa. Most gran vinos cannot equal this in terms of enjoyment and overall quality. Extremely balanced and gushingly long, with microfiber tannins and layer upon layer of fruit. Ripe cherries, raspberry, garrigue, char siu pork, lavender, locker room, red spice, Mediterranean herbs and blackberry. Forcefully executed, yet angelic at the same time. The sort of paradox makes a wondrous vino. This evolves over time and shifts. The body is close to full, yet remains agile. I can only imagine how lovely the Cols Erasmus is. Decant or wait a couple of years. Cottony, crunchy tannins and freshness. Drink 2026 - 2038.

I collect Dunn HM from the 1980s and early 1990s. It and Ridge Monte Bello, with 20+ years age, are my favorite American reds by far. This 1984 Dunn HM, with pristine wax cap and cork, was the first "past its peak, but still good" Dunn HM I've ever had. My many other Dunn HM's from 1985-1988 have shown extraordinary mushroom soup funk and glory - what I'd consider peak tertiary window. This 1984 was maybe 5 years past its tertiary peak. Some flavors of bandaid (bad), mint (surprised), tart cranberry, and funk mixed with still-solid dried fruit. For a 40 year old wine, it is a standout success for California, though below the other 1980s Dunns I've had. Would rate an 88 today. I'm not entering a score because its ratings past-prime shouldn't discount its ratings in peak.
