Dark berry fruit, vanilla and leathery notes. Nice, long finish. Delicious.

Deep dark purple. Clean nose of spice, earth, and black fruit. A great expression of petit Verdot. Do not know of any other BC wines that use this varietal exclusively.

I liked this. It had a minerality or graphite thing on the nose that I love and usually get with certain cab savs. I'd buy this again.

100% Petit Verdot is something of a rarity in Canada. At 5 years of age this wine is in a great spot. Deep garnet slightly fading at the rim.

Opulent nose featuring ripe blackberry and plum, smoked meat, cola, dill and vanilla.

Truly exceptional balance with round tannins showing just a hint of astringency, savoury acidity and plush texture.

Flavours of dark chocolate, black cherry, cherry blaster candy and worn leather.

Long finish.

At peak, drink to 2023.

Another enjoyable kitchen sink wine from the always reliable Blasted Church. Tasted blind I guessed this was a Cab Franc dominated blend… it has no CF. Merlot dominated with some Lemberger(!) and Petit Verdot.

Sweet black plum and red cherry core with cranberry and vanilla.

Medium bodied with fine tannins and well-balanced acidity. Slightly hot.

Flavours are oak dominant with notes of milk chocolate, smoke and earth.

Bonus points for the sub-$20 price tag.

Drink in the next few years.

This wine is way too young right now...even on day 2 it is tannic. It likely needs 2-3 years to peak.

However, the dregs show terrific potential. (Yes, I ALWAYS drink these!) My experience here tells me this will get really good - just wait.

I will try one bottle/year to test my hypothesis.

87. Weird nose out of the bottle but give it a few minutes then it becomes floral, perfume. Tastes of fresh ripe plum, fresh ripe blackberry fruit (the fleshy part), oak, vanilla bean, some bitter chocolate finish. Just a little astringency. Dry and smooth, drink now. The fruit fades after a couple of hours leaving a tartness which isn't really for me.

Big and ripe. Lots of alcohol and powerful oak. Nose of jammy black cherry and blackberry, mocha and cigar. Chalky tannins, hot alcohol. Flavours of ripe black fruit and plenty of spice.

92 Jul 2022 👃 garrigue, black cherry, perfumes. 👅 PnP slightly mouth watering acidity, stems, cherry fruit underpins it all from the back row, nutmeg, cinnamon, kind of lightweight. Very sippable. I think this is like a good southern Rhone red but much more acidic, which is better IMO, though you get better value in southern Rhone. On day 2, lost just a tiny bit of acidity, but also the earthiness, allowing more fruit to come out. Still very good.

70. Nectarine pit, there's faint yeast on the nose but doesn't make it to the palate, lots of minerality, not sure there is as much pressure as expected, clearly young as expected. I've had worse, and the value is ok, but would still go French. Was tough to finish a bottle and that's not a great sign

12.1% abv. 59% Pinot noir, 41% Chard. Light gold color, leggy in glass, could be cheap flute I’m drinking from but bubbles appear large. Nose is deep but mono, stone fruit, some citrus, vaguest hint of yeast. Med plus weight in mouth, acidity fades rather quickly to soft (not quite creamy) palate of pear, apple, nutty flax, just a flash of lemon. Lingers in a satisfying way. Enjoyable but not memorable. Decent QPR ($25USD).

94. Wonderful perfumed floral smell with no alcoholic bite, cloudy, tobacco, oak, herbal, cherry. Medium-light body. Not fruit forward, this is and will become more elegant over time.

94 Jul 2021👃 flowers, shrubs, cherry, strawberry. 👅 Soft velvety texture, cherry candy, herbs, menthol, oak, tobacco. Not sure if it changed at all from last year but seriously good and still a favourite. Lost a lot the next day though

Sep 2023 still going strong. Still 94

Purchased from winery. Faint golden color. Beeswax, tropical fruit, lemon, wildflowers and clover on the nose. More of the same on the palate along with honey and melon coming through. Light oak flavour and also bright acidity are in appealing balance. Paired well with seared prawns.

90. Dec 25 2020. 👃 🍒, lavender, rose stems. 👅 blackberry, unripe black 🍒, pepper, oak. High acidity nicely paint medium tannins. Peppery finish. Very good, drink now or next 2 years. Might go longer but what do I know.

Aug 2021 👅 silky, plum, black cherry skins, licorice, tannins are totally mellow, some oak. Kind of CDP-like. Nice but that acid from last year is gone so this is evolving fast.
