2016 Turley Zinfandel JuvenileCalifornia more |
6/16/2021 - probraided Likes this wine: NRTurley Juvenile is an outstanding value. It's my go-to wine to accompany pizza/bbq/burgers. While even 2 years after the vintage year Juvenile show very well, a little extra aging adds complexity. It tasted as good as some of the more expensive Zins from the vast Turley portfolio. No sign of slowing down, no rush to drink up. Great stuff. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

7/3/2023 - probraided Likes this wine: NRHN Bourgogne is one of my top 3 favorite BR. 2020 does not disappoint. Excellent effort: great freshness, good balance. It's a solid step up, consistently being at the villages level. I think it will improve further with time. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

8/13/2022 - probraided Likes this wine: NRUnder DIAM10. Decent village level Meursault. Nothing special. Was hoping for something more interesting from this producer. Nicely balanced, medium finish. |

5/2/2021 - probraided wrote: 84 pointsSimple food wine. Nothing special. Good nose offering a promise, but a flat and disappointing palate. Not a great QPR at over $16. Jadot or Faiveley Bourgogne would be much better. |

9/27/2021 - probraided Likes this wine: 92 pointsNew world meets old world. Very well made pinot. Excellent balance. Red/Black fruited palate, a bit of menthol and eucalyptus. Almost like there is a bit of Domaine Fourrier influence here. |

2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Beaune du ChâteauPinot Noir more |
7/23/2023 - probraided Likes this wine: NRTerrific wine. Right in its drinking window, well balanced, aromatic, properly developed burgundy. No need to wait, enjoy now or in the next few years. Nothing is out of place here. Delicate fruit is complemented by the earthy notes, mushrooms and the forest floor. Medium finish. |

5/29/2023 - probraided Likes this wine: NRMore one-dimensional than my previous bottles. Paired beautifully with coq au vin, but was less exciting on its own. Perhaps needs a bit more time in the bottle. The acidic balance was great, nice core of red fruits. A bit tight at the moment. The potential is still there. |

6/4/2021 - probraided Likes this wine: 91 pointsMore settled down compared with a bottle I had several months ago. Very Fourrier. Cool minty notes. Slightly reduced complexity compared to previous bottle. Many similarities with Fourrier GC, but not as complex. Absolutely delicious. Expensive for its level, but punches above the stated level. Doesn't taste like an 2018 wine. Nothing overripe/alcoholic about it. |

10/20/2020 - probraided Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is just an amazing Bourgogne. Needs about an hour to open up, but after that it's just a great ride. Keeps evolving as I follow it. Great with food, but complex enough (actually, surprisingly complex) for its level. It costs about 2x of an average bourgogne, but has the weight and complexity of a good village wine or a decent 1er Cru. Will probably age well and further improve in 2-4 years. Highly recommended. |

2018 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis Grand Cru GrenouillesChardonnay more |
12/24/2022 - probraided Likes this wine: NRMajestic nose. Cherry blossom, white fruits, iodine. On the palate it is not as inspiring as I was hoping for. Medium finish. Perhaps it is the vintage, but it I expected more from the Grand Cru level. Maybe it needs more time in the cellar. At this point it's not a significant improvement over the same producer's Premier Crus. |

2018 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis 1er Cru Montée de TonnerreChardonnay more |
9/8/2022 - probraided Likes this wine: NROn the younger side, needs to develop further. Excellent concentration and length. Beautiful nose of white peaches, a bit of pineapple, green apples. On the palate it is not well defined and is missing the Chablis typicity. Drinks more like a Cote de Beaune white at this time. Not sure if this will change with age and it doesn't take away from the quality here. But if you are looking for clamshells and crystalline crispiness, it is not here (yet?). Excellent wine, needs more time. |

7/31/2022 - probraided Likes this wine: NRHigh quality Bourgogne. Mostly red fruited with a bit of stems. Perfumed nose. Drinks like a village level. Young, will improve with time. Delicious already. Clearly from a warm vintage without being overripe. 12.5% alcohol. |

2017 Justin Vineyards & Winery Cabernet Sauvignon ReservePaso Robles more |
8/28/2021 - probraided wrote: NRHeavily extracted. Black/blue fruited profile + oak. Low acidity. Very concentrated. Can smell alcohol, which is not surprising given 16.1%. Not unbalanced, but overall feels "heavy". Should work well with a steak. |

2018 Jean-Louis Dutraive (Domaine de la Grand'Cour) Fleurie Chapelle des BoisGamay more |
10/6/2022 - probraided Does not like this wine: NR"Cloudy" appearance, ruby color. Unfiltered. Cranberries on the nose with a slight "mousy" accent. Sweet cranberry compote on the palate, which is in a few moments replaced by an attack of dirt/soil. It doesn't taste good. I didn't like this wine at all. Short, bitter finish and unpleasant aftertaste. Disappointing. |

2/1/2021 - probraided wrote: 86 pointsDecent everyday bourgogne. Aromatic red-fruited nose, hints of raspberries and strawberries. Pleasantly acidic, but with some weedy and bitter notes on the finish. Positive evolution in the glass. Sweet spot serving temperature is around 57-59F. At $25-30 not the best QPR, but under $20 - definitely so. |

1/16/2021 - probraided Likes this wine: NRBought a few bottles and decided to try one. Loved it. Comparing to an average, but decent German riesling, it feels like listening to a live orchestra vs. a portable radio. The range is just so much different. Even though this is very young, it is super enjoyable. |

2018 Château LanessanHaut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend more |
11/18/2021 - probraided Likes this wine: 87 pointsYoung and tight. Needs an extended decant. On PnP it was shut down but opened up after 1-2 hours of decanting. Not much on the nose. On the palate there is pomegranate, sour cherry, forest floor. Doesn't feel jammy or hot. Good, balanced acidity. I think this has good potential in a few years. Doesn't seem to be too "modern" or "glossy". It is rich but not over the top. My score is for today; it can certainly improve further. 87-89. |

2016 Aurelien Verdet Nuits St. GeorgesPinot Noir more |
3/12/2023 - probraided Likes this wine: NRI've tasted a fair share of this producer's 2014 vintage - almost their entire range. It used to have a strong cranberry signature that made it easy to recognize their wines. Can't say I was crazy about that. 2016 NSG was a welcome improvement - the wine had more complexity than its 2014 counterpart. Red fruited, youthful, cherries and strawberries. Balanced acidity. Medium finish. Excellent for its level. Can be enjoyed now or over the next few years. No rush to drink up. |
