Amazing wine, mint, leather, earth and smoke. Ripe red fruit. It’s balanced, long and very enjoyable. It’s drinking in the window right now and my goodness is it good. Let me know if you’ve tried it recently because this was just great.

Its a lot. Big, bold, red, powerful chunk of wine. I could almost feel I was chewing the grapes while I drank this. It’s on the sweeter scale of california wines but it’s not overbearing like the Syrah from Austing Hope. I’m sure some people are going to love this. Ripened blueberries, butter, cinnamon and vanilla.

This is not a subtle or elegant wine.

Senior wine, its showing secondary and terciary aromas. Tannins have softenned inmensly, it’s smooth and easy to drink. Its earthy, dark red fruit, minerals and spices. Its drinking beautifully, but its about ready to start hitting the slope to go down. It will not get better.

Wow, just wow... Red peppers, red fruit, leather, its soft and caresses your toungue. This wine helps me understand why I love wine. The tannins are soft, the fruit is still very much there. Its a surreal experience to drink wines like this. We thought it might be a 90’s wine. 1970’s California in all it’s glory. The best wine of the day and an amazing example of what evolved, bordeaux style wines could be from California.

Is there a perfect wine? I don’t know but this is pretty dam good. Leather, dark red fruit and that body! We drank these wines with other 70’s and being the oldest one, while blind we thought it was the youngest one!

Butterscotch, green apple, oak and vanilla. This wine is powerful and full of life. It’s amazing that this is still very much full of life. It’s drinking beautifully. If you like evolved butterscotchy and acidic white wines, this is straight up your lane.

1985 Château Beychevelle

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend more

This is the perfect expression of 1985 Bordeaux. I’ve had this wine before blind and it’s always impressed the crowd when compared to other first growth’s from 1985. Beychevelle, in 1985, whatever they did, they got the sauce right.

Leather, red peppers, ripe red fruit. It’s balanced, elegant, silky and easy to drink. By the way, did you get that finish? Yea that’s what you want in a classic claret.

This wine is in the window to drink. If you have it god bless and enjoy. If you don’t, keep an eye out on the winebids of the world because price value this is still very much worth it.

High acidity, good fruit. This is definitly something that you need to start eliminating from the collection. Once the fruit is gone the acidity will be unbearable. Enjoy now!

Awesome Burgundy. Ripe Black cherries and leather on the entrance. It’s mineral and meduim body but long lasting. Its smooth, it feels light/silky and easy to drink. The tannins are controlled and its elegant. This wine reminds me why I love Burgundy and Pinot Noir.

Black pepper and black olives. This Syrah is amazing. Its still got power and lenght in the palate so this guy has a way to go, but its in a nice drinking window right now. The tannins are softened enough to sip on the wine by itself. Black peppers, olives and riper red fruit dominate the nose and mouth. Spot on, representation of the terroir and varietal.

You can taste the producer’s signature style in the production of the wine. This is Mariano. Although it’s their entry level, it’s powerful, fruit forward, oaky with vanilla. It’s long and auromatic. Blackberries, dark cherry, and a little toasty. Looking forward to see how this develops over the years.

This wine is spectacular. Among the sea of similar tasting wines that Napa offers, this wine stands out and delivers. At first it come up strong with black cherries and oak. It's balanced and long lasting with a silky feel. With a time, the complexities of the wine start to shine through. I got vanilla, spice, with a smokey toasty finish. This wine can be enjoyed now or drunk 10-15 years from now.

Leroy… What do you want to say? Its a pinot noir by the queen on bourgogne. Its what you need. Dont age more that 5 years from now the wine will not get much better then this. Earth, a little bit of petillant, red fruit. It does the job.

California New World wine. I’m sure Robert Parker and his followers love this wine. Its fruit forward cranked to 11 with alcohol at 15%! The good thing about it is that it has the tannins and acidity to back it up which makes it the type of california wine you want to keep drinking. Blackberries, cherries and other ripe red fruit. Some oak, notes of vanilla and a mintiness/freshness in the finish. Make sure to give it time to open up. This is not a subtle wine.

It’s a new world style wine in Rioja. High extraction and concentration. Its toasty, chewy and juicy. Blackberry, plum and spice. Its got a long finish. I find it hard to identify this as a Rioja. If you like new world style wines, this is right up your alley.
