Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend more

En jeroboam. Pretty much secondary now. Copper colored. Coconut, dried fruits. Classic Sauternes sweetness with a good balance yet not tremendously zesty. A good wine but lacks of the verve and complexity of a good botrytised Riesling.

For a wine this rare, its heartening to see quite a few notes for this in CT. Lovely vermilion hue. Very soft mousse and bubbles. On the nose this was resplendent with fresh strawberries, persimmons and raspberries. On the palate, this is not a blockbuster, but an elegant and pure representation of the terroir. True to its cepage, you could almost feel like drinking a red Burgundy if blinded. A more-ish wine, makes you reach for it glass after glass. A hypothetical blend of a Chambolle and Chablis. A zen Champagne.

Blinded. Quite dark in color. I guessed a '00 from the palate which was quite ripe but still fairly primary. Acidity was a little low, but there was a tingling sensation on the tongue. Obvious spice notes with a certain refinement to it. Out of the 3 blinded red wines on the day, this was the clear standout. Lovely to drink now, probably close to its peak.

Easy-going, friendly, light-weight. Doesn't display the class and refinement of the best. After the tasting it opened up more to reveal more elegance but this is not one built for the long term.

I don't drink as much Krug as I should! So I don't have much experience in comparing this with other vintages. This was round and most importantly not tart and sharp. Rich and intense yet with hidden acidity to balance it out. Love it. Drinking beautifully now and this is a vintage which probably tastes superb in its whole life.

Seems even better than the last time I had it. I can't fathom why the BH rating is so low and there isn't much public notes for it. Gorgeous and deep red fruited nose. Good acidity spine and a robust intense palate which is very very complex. A big yet elegant wine which is still very fresh, sappy and primary with a tremendously long finish. An excellent Beze!

Interesting that there's just one instance that this wine was tasted/reviewed here. Citrus dominated flavors. More cool fruit than tropical. Round with acidity kept in check. Fine and classy with a monumental presence. Befuddled how a Champagne (or wine) can taste so regal.

Sean Birthday (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck): Dark, slightly purple-ish. High-toned nose of dark cherries and hints of rose petals. Concentrated on the palate yet with proper structure to hold it up. Unmistakably a Gamay varietal although I would not call this the most pure example around. However, this did have a unique class to it in terms of complexity and definitely a wow factor. Balanced. Outstanding example of a Beaujolais and rivals many wines from the Côte de Nuits. I would love to revisit this in 3-5 years time.

Tasted blind this was clearly a German Riesling from the floral nose and the tiny hint of sweetness on the palate. I like the tropical fruit profile here. The texture on the palate was silky and tongue staining too with the acidity not obstructive at all. Enjoyable though complexity-wise not that impressive.

Bronze. This is highly expressive with apricots, honey and ripe peaches. Good acid spine which held up the very rich palate which is already in the secondary stage. The only nitpick I have is perhaps the lack of complexity, but I am sure that's what the TBA is for. Very long, explosive finish. Almost outstanding.

Domaine Faiveley Dinner with Erwan Faiveley (Tower Club, Singapore): Lemon notes and unmistakably Puligny aromas soars from the glass. Creamy on the palate with stunning flavor authorit. Medium rather than full-bodied. Great presence and length reminisence of a good (but not great) Bâtard. Excellent and a worthy Grand Cru.

As one would expect from a Corton-Charlemagne, this had minerality in spades all in a big yet calm profile. Steely on the palate and calm, not flashy. Not a fruit dominated wine. Structured and serious. This needs plenty of age. Quantitatively equal to the Bienvenues-Bâtard alongside it though stylistically very different.

Cloudy yellow. Searing acidity (very sour) on the palate with juicy fresh citrus fruits. Nose was quite reticent but again showed hints of citrus. As it evolved, nose became more herbal with notes of chrysanthemum and other white flowers. The acidity also became more integrated but the intensity was still razor sharp. Probably can age for a long time. Outstanding expression of Chardonnay but might not be for neophytes.

Felt a bit closed up. Palate was predominantly citrus and tropical fruits. Quite a ripe example as the intensity hits you on the entry however the finish was surprisingly short and unmemorable. I think this needs more time to evolve as clearly there's good extract in here.

AP #21. From a half. Still pale yellow, no signs of aging. Nose filled with sweet white fruits and flowers. White peach especially. Definitely can taste the ripeness of the 2009 vintage here despite the wine being very balanced (no sharp acidity poking out). Good depth on the palate. As compared to the 2011, which I had some time back, this was showing less minerality. It's all pure juicy fruit here. Very good but I would definitely prefer this with more evolution.

Casual Dinner (Giant Garouper, Serangoon Road): High toned nose of peaches, citrus and honey greets the nose while the palate was distinctively racy and pure. Not what one typically associates with Meursault but this was an extremely Riesling-like example. Can't feel any oak here but definitely needs time for the acidity to integrate.

This wine perfectly encapsulates the purity and transparency which many are lauding the 08s for. Sweet red cherries on the nose and hints of spice on the palate with just the barest hint of tannins. Undeniably this was made in a more forward style with a nagging dry finish but the persistence is commendable.
