For under 7 dollars I cannot complain. This wine tasted hot and was hot on the nose right outta the bottle, but I put it into the decanter and gave it a good swirling. I put some of it into my spaghetti sauce that we had for dinner. I think this is a decent QPR. I would spend 12 bucks and get something that tasted just a bit better, but then again, thats me.

Interesting nose. initial sample didnt have much of anything, missing the acidity that I would have expected. let it sit in the bottle for another hour and the liver nose had calmed down quite a bit and the next taste was as if the ripest raspberries had just had a 30 second sprint right down the center of my tongue. I was eating popcorn with salt, pepper and a bit of truffle oil at the time. I purchased 6 of these, and it will be interesting to see how the next bottle tastes.

We put this in a magnum decanter for 1.5 hours before tasting. My wife and drank this with dinner and then i polished it off just watching the baseball game. the one thing i can say is that this wine changed for the better with every pour. I Prefer 2-3 ounce pours to notice any changes with time outta the bottle. Initial nose was a bit hot that eventually opened up to perfumy floral notes. The pallat started out really jammy and that continued to a velvety finish that was quite nice. Tannins were so very subtle, not sure i am going to be able to let the other 5 bottles wait too long to drink this. Do not drink this bottle too fast, savor it over the evening. It will tell you tales you would not have thought of.

okay, so I bought 6 of these to age and have now opened 2 of the bottles in the last 6 months. This wine is just spectacular. Black as ink and as the wine opens up, it just changes it should be called two hands many faces.

I can't believe i haven't opened one of these since mid year 07 the fruit as subsided a bit and there is some funk on the nose upon immediately opening it. The funk wasnt bad, it was good, but the most offputting thing about this was the tartness on the finish that left me going "HUH..where did that come from?" after about an hour of small pours the tartness either went away or I was so in the bag that I didnt care about it being there. I peeled 3 points off my last score, and I still have one bottle left. lets see what that tastes like next year.

Drank this past the drinkability window, but this still had lots of fruit, jammy even. Very dark in color turning a bit rusty. We had it with spaghetti and it was very good.

nice and leathery with a hints of tobacco. After the young Lancaster we had previous to this, it was much more serious. It was not the ideal wine to have finishing up the night given our guests and menu. This was my oldest Don Melchor and I think its a drink now.

we decanted for an hour or so and it was a huge cedar box right out of the gate, the cedar finally subsided a little bit, but not much fruit at all. cigar and leather. I am not an old world fan, so this didn't get far with me. on the palate there were still a few tannins, but they seemed a bit muddled. not really smooth. it was like listening to the radio with a little bit of static. You can make out what is going on, but you aren't enjoying it.
