Yes, I know, 100? But it is for me. I like a Gewurztraminer that smells and tastes like roses, so this is, for me, the best Gewurz I've ever had. I do not get the "hops" comments of earlier reviews. It's complex, floral, viscous, rose petals, and the ultimate most technical compliment - "dee-lish"! I have two bottles of the 2011 vintage and am anxious to see how they taste. This is a 5 (of 5) on the ozzie wine rating scale - it's a wine I'd drink again and again...and again...I'd go out of my way (and did!) to buy more...a memorable and fabulous drinking experience. A classic!

Drank this a day after tasting Baur 2016 Gewurtz Pfresigberg Grand Cru. The wines had similar taste profiles, and both were marked as medium sweet on the label. I thought Eichberg was leaner, spicier, more focused. Both wines had that Alsatian viscosity and silkiness, a fragrant honeyed nose, and gorgeous lychee flavor. I give a slight nod to Eichberg because of the extra focus.

Fragrant, slightly oily, unctuous, lychee flavored, silky golden liquid will slide languorously across your palate. Sweet, but not cloying. Delicious. I would rate it higher if it had just a touch more acidity.

Terrific minerality and salinity, with a hint of residual sugar. A light golden color, with strawberries on the nose. Really opened up over the hour. Paired incredibly well with Thai spices.

Beautifully aromatic Gewürztraminer. I am not a big fan of off-dry wines but this went extremely well with a spicy Thai dish.

Heavy and full bodied on the palate and very prominent hops flavors almost like a very fine micro-brewery beer!

Clear, medium minus lemon. The nose is glean, with medium plus intensity. The aromas are of stone fruit (apricot), tropical fruit (pineapple) with some some minerality (stone) and sweet spice. Overall, the nose is developing. The palate is off-dry, with all major components in balance and medium plus flavor intensity and length. The flavors are consistent with the nose. Overall, this is a very complex, balanced and elegant wine. Drinks beautifully now, but has potential for ageing.

Intense, lifted nose of ripe peach, litchi, rose petal, and beeswax. Dense, weighty palate of peach, jasmine, pumpkin spice, and honeyed apricot. Not shy and very exotic. Finishes off dry with good length. Great with Choucroute.

Floral and yeasty on the nose. Extra time on the lees gives this wine surprising richness for Alsace. Fruit driven with plenty of bready tropical/orange fruit and lingering crisp finish.

This wine is a very light straw color without sediment. The nose is quite aromatic with citrus and floral tones. The palate follows suit with bright citrus. This wine is quite dry, light/medium body with smooth texture. This wine finishes medium in length, crisp and tangy. This wine has high acidity and is quite well balanced. Would highly recommend at price point, wish I had a few more bottles.

Focused and surprisingly powerful nose showing some funky elements to it , along with crushed rock, damp earth and muted dry red fruit. The palate is very mineral orientated on the front, with crisp raspberry flavors and a huge finish that leans more towards the orange/tangerine profile.

medium sweet/demi-sec… and ripe! 14% AbV, and (guessing) 35-45 g/L RS. so a bit of an acquired tasted.

dark yellow with noticeable body in the glass. the varietal-expected rosewater and lychee fruit aromas abound and are laced with those of flowers, ripe pears and apples. in the mouth it is viscous, concentrated, rich and smooth; the sweetness in check by adequate acidity and a liquorice and bitter twist thru the long finish.

it was absolutely delightful with very spicy Thai food…

…and on its own, slowly.

Distinctive. Exotic but refined. Tropical fruits like passionfruit and lychee combined with spicy flowers. Finish is slightly bitter, even hoppy. Just a bit of welcome sweetness. Intense, special.

Yellow gold colour. Mostly floral nose, some pineapple, and a hint of violet crumble or perhaps it's European honey. Nice weight in mouth, perfectly judged acidity, peach, grapefruit, and mineral to finish with an ever so slightly honeyed twist in the tail.

Textbook Riesling in a nice place. Complex notes, only hints of petrol, mostly stone fruit. Ditto full taste with lots of oomph and enough balancing acidity, long finish. Dry, complex, well-balanced and satisfying. Good stuff !

Clear medium lemon. The nose is clean, and at first is less than medium in intensity. The nose is youthful, with intriguing aromas are of stone fruit (peach), tropical fruit and citrus. The palate is barely off-dry, with flavors of stone fruit (apricot), tropical fruit (melon) and some mature traits (honey). The acidity, alcohol, and body are all medium and in balance. The flavor intensity and the length are medium plus. This is a very good wine which can be drunk now but has the potential for ageing a few more years. I tasted it blind and guessed it was an Alsatian Riesling, but in fact it does not have any of that varietal's petrol characteristics. Overall this is a very good wine and a fairly good value.

Beautiful wine, slightly off-dry. Medium plus nose, medium plus acidity, vibrant floral, citrus and tropical fruit. A very good wine and great value. Drinkeable now but likely to increase in complexity with a few more years of bottle ageing.

Riesling tasting (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): Aromas of fresh, juicy and tart peaches, green apples and pears, dry hay, and a bit of damp and musty stones (in a good way). The fruit notes ripen with a bit of time.

On the palate is a hit of stony acidity, straw from the nose, similar but lighter fruits on the palate, and bitter minerals.

The aromas really grabs your attention but the on the palate makes this a bit disappointing. Refreshing and energizing upfront but then completely steps off a cliff on the mid to end palate. 89-90

Aromatic, with elderflower and melon notes taking lead, and some pretty good acid for structure, with just a touch of phenolic bitterness. Fresh, lively, and flavorful; delicious on its own or for eclectic food pairings.
