Attack is warm cherry, cassis, blackberry, midpalate thyme, silk, warm silk, mint, tannins that are like silk (in case you missed that) with deep cocoa spice finish. Extreme length. Still a baby, but highest I've ever scored a wine. 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (4) |

All the great cab aromas and flavors, with a tremendous follow through. This wine is a perfect example of Billo's ability to balance the wine without needing a lot of oak. If you drink this now, decant at 8 AM, drink at 7 PM. Thank you Rasa, your wines continue to be some of the very best WA has to offer! |

11/17/2012 - jeremyzolk wrote: 98 pointsAs close to a perfect bottle of wine as I've ever had. And hard to not call this flawless. Decanted and consumed over about six hours. Took a little bit for the nose to come through but when it did, it amazed. Overall, a beautiful Merlot wrapped in a delicious, complex Cabernet blanket. Dark fruits, earth, cigar box up front, softened by the Merlot mid-palate with subtle plum and tea flavors leading to mocha and oak on the back end. Seamless, and silky smooth. Finish goes on forever. Incredibly drinkable now and should be fun to see where this goes over the next 15+ years....if I can stay away that long! 2 people found this helpful, do you? 12/31/2020 - RPerro Likes this wine: 97 pointsPopped for New Year's Eve. A proper goodbye to a horrible year. This wine was absolutely singing all night long! Soft and velvety mouthfeel, intense black cherry and cassis fruit with notes of violets and espresso. Finish is all dark chocolate and goes on for 30 seconds or more. This is in a great spot right now, and has many more years ahead of it. Drink now - 2029. |

3/5/2021 - JMFWC Likes this wine: 97 pointsNight one was classic rocks with a distinctive nose and a nice lush palate. Night two blew my mind, Dr Pepper on the nose and a super silky palate with deep blue fruit and smoked bacon. Both my wife and I were stunned where this wine was on night two. |

11/2/2013 - Aideng12 Likes this wine: 97 pointsAbsolutely fantastic wine. Whereas some of the great wines I've had in the past had a beautiful floral bouquet, this wine actually carried it to the palate. I also picked up a strong vanilla note. Excellent value on this wine. |

4/5/2023 - srwatters Likes this wine: 96 pointsThis is a dry red wine that is deep ruby in color with a bright red rim. The medium intensity nose features dark ripe black fruit with olive and smokey bacon notes over the famous Rocks District stones. The palate echoes the nose with the addition of a savory saline note. The body is full with supple sweet tannin and medium acidity. The wine is perfectly balanced with a tremendously long finish. This is an outstanding wine. |

10/27/2016 - RPerro Likes this wine: 96 pointsDecanted 30 min while it came up from cellar temp. Nose of raspberry, saddle leather and light oak. Flavors of cassis, baking spices, sweet red berry, leather, lightly toasted oak and a lonnnnng finish of raspberries and cream. Mouthfeel is unreal...super creamy and rounded. We paired this with panang curry and it was surprisingly good! The creaminess seemed to temper the spice of the curry well. This shouldn't have paired as well as it did, but...wow. |

6/11/2011 - RPerro wrote: 96 pointsDecanted 90 min. and paired with a vegetarian pizza. Wow. I've tasted the 2007 QED, a blend of 94% Syrah, 3% Grenache and 3% Mourvedre, on several previous occasions, either at the winery in Walla Walla, or tasting events in Portland, and I was always very impressed with it, enough that I've purchased a handful of bottles. Perhaps it was the pairing, or the 90 minute decant, but this particular bottle of QED absolutely blew me (and my girlfriend) away! The nose was huge, all smoky blackberries and espresso. Extremely silky feeling in the mouth, and showing more blackberries, pepper, olives and smoke/roasted meat, finishing with espresso and dark chocolate. That tasty finish goes on for well over a minute. This wine is incredibly balanced, with nothing out of place, and everything perfectly in sync. I don't know how they do it, but Billo and Pinto Naravane continue to produce wines that fit my palate perfectly...from their reserve-level PRINCIPIA Syrah and Creative Impulse Bordeaux blend, to their "second label" PB Wines offerings. All are delicious! |

A great match for my wife’s slow-cooked roast beef with root vegetables. Long and meaningful finish that enhances and complements the evening’s other flavors. |

4/4/2024 - Jack Cranley Likes this wine: 96 pointsWow - What a difference a few years makes. Looking back at my note from 2020, it's hard to understand why I only gave it 90 points. There was nothing in my notes that really spoke of any deficiencies in the wine, but for whatever reason I decided to leave the numeric score at 90. Today, that seems almost comically conservative. This wine is singing in a way that I was almost not sure Washington was capable of. It's peeling off in layers like a first growth Bordeaux. It's got fruit, it's got leather, it's got flowers and minerals, and herbs, and wood, and spice.... It's all over the place! The word that we really settle down as sort of the theme of this wine is "Shapeshifter". It seems to evolve and present something different with each progressive visit back to the glass. I never-ending cornucopia of nuance and complexity. |
