I may be shorting this a point. This was a futures purchase from the winery and this was the first bottle that I have tried. I shared this with my wine group and we all loved it. I'm sure it will age great, although I'll drink a few bottles this and next year as it is in a great place now, Soos Creek is a consitent QPR winner!

Wanted to try this to compare it to the Red Mountain Reserve I recently tasted. The Champoux is two years younger, which is very evident in the development of the wine. Ultimately, it is possible the Champoux will surpass the Red Mountain Reserve. That would be a tall order in my book, but is possible. I find this wine to lean more toward the fruit spectrum than the Red Mountain, which has a beautiful streak of minerality and complexity in mouthfeel not yet showing in the Champoux. I expect this to change as the Champoux evolves over time. The Champoux is more herbaceous and muscular than the Red Mountain Reserve. The fact that both of these wines were acquired at a price of $35 each as futures is astounding. If you haven’t tried a Soos Creek wine I encourage you to do so. The QPR on their wine is as good as it gets.

Shared this with my wine group at an Indian restaurant. Not as big a hit with my wine group and Indian food as previous bottles have been but still very good. SC seems to be very consistent with the cuvee from year to year (in the years they make it).

Wow, this wine is spectacular in all aspects. Pop and pour with no decant. Fragrant nose with fruit, spice and fresh cut stone. The mouthfeel is silky and rich with beautiful balance and texture. No sense of heaviness on the palate. The finish is long and rich, yet elegant. I paid $35 for this wine as a future, but would put it up against $100 plus bottles without hesitation.

Revisiting this after vacuuvinning for two days. Still fresh and vibrant, portending a long life ahead. However, it is exceptional in its youth.

For those of you familiar with Soos Creek wines, this is the best I’ve had from them. Second best was the 2008 Champoux Vineyard cabernet, followed closely by the 2017 Ciel Du Cheval.

Impossibly fresh at 10 years old. Dynamic and zippy with a crunchy dark fruit verve that jumped out of the glass. A remarkable weeknight surprise.

Part of a WA State wine night with my group. All the reds were from 2010 to 2013. This was one of three wines from the Champoux vineyard. It was opened, but not decanted for at least 90 minutes before pouring. I don't think this was the WOTN, but it was close and as the least expensive wine there, it was the QPR winner. Long finish. This was the 10th bottle of a case I bought directly from the winery. It probably has years of life left, but I doubt the final 2 bottles will stay undrunk for more than a year!

Part of a "Little Brother Wine night" with my wine group at a NYC steakhouse. It was the final wine of the night, so I didn't take any detailed notes, but very enjoyable.

Drinking great right out of the bottle. Cassis, oak spice, basement, spruce and caramel mocha. At peak but might evolve. Drink now but no rush. Very satisfying.

A nice wine that paired very well with the lamb dishes at an Indian restaurant with my wine group. The Cab Franc (35%) made it a slightly lighter bodied wine than the 2017 Soos Creek Ciel du cheval and Terrible Beauty wines that we had alongside it.

My next to last bottle of this wine for this vintage. I had this alongside 2 other 2017s Soos Creek wines and I liked this one the best. I shared it with my wine group at an Indian restaurant and it disappeared fast!

I always enjoy this cuvee from Soos Creek, and this bottle was no exception. I had it alongside 2 other 2017s from Soos, the Ciel du Cheval and the Artist Series. For me this is slightly behind the Ciel du Cheval, but not by much.

One hour decant. Beautiful deep ruby red color. Aromas of black and red berries, savory earthy herbs and spice, with cedar and floral notes. Full bodied palate bursts with dark fruit, mocha, herbs and oak. Fine silky tannins and bright acid lead to a lovely long finish.

Really pretty framboise, strawberry, Cherry thing going on. A little cacao and lifted on the finish. Tannins are slightly grippy and angular. Not mouth coating though. Medium concentration. Drinking nicely now but can benefit from some air time.

Part of tasting with my wine group at an Indian restaurant. Soos Creek's wines have consistently shown well with the spices in their food. It was our last wine of the night, which may affect my perception but this was my favorite of the night. Medium+ body, with a nice mix of florals and minerals. Some years I don't care for the Ciel du Cheval cuvee, especially compared to other Soos Creek wines, but the 2015 is a hit!

Very enjoyable. I had it just before a 2018 Ridge Monte Bello. The Soos Creek was a very enjoyable, but paled in comparison to the Ridge. But at 1/5th the price, it is a clear QPR winner.

Cork disintegrated into 1000 pieces. Some fruit still there, a bit stewy, no structure left. My fault waited too long.
