Delightful, but too young. Hint of apple, nice fatty texture. Needs to open up and I did not plan for that on a Monday night. Went great with red fish.

Generously shared with us by a close friend we had not seen since the before the start of the pandemic. So yes this is probably to young to fully appreciate all of its complexity, but it was still really nice. Fragrant nose of stuck match, and tart apples. Bright acidity, some viscosity on the palate, tart apples, minerals, touch of oak, long finish. Really nice to have the opportunity to taste, but even better to be sharing with a friend we whose company we have really missed.

Holding up fine but may be past any improvement stage. Aromatics were a bit weird. The fruit has faded but I can’t say that has gone into a compelling place. Still strong acidity. Nice to have as a sipper with some appetizers.

A punchy, tropical nose of pineapple, mango and apricot. It is a rich wine but also with a high degree of precision and freshness. Drinking right in the zone.

This is fantastically well preserved with a lovely freshness and leroy style intensity. Quite broad and I thought it is a good Chassagne Montrachet.

This came for free at an auction last year (was after the Laville-Haut Brion that came with it) and looked in great condition, with the wine 2cm under the cork. Colour showed some aging, but definitely not 30 years. Still a freshness to the nose which exhibited a touch of caramel and some minerality. Needed a few minutes to open, but then we had a beautiful wine which was well balanced, had lovely rich fruit, a layered texture and a long finish. Amazing that such a basic cuvee could end up being so good. Started to oxidise as the evening went on and personally I enjoyed the extra complexity that this brought (been tasting to many Arbois styled wines recently), but I was very much in the minority there

Midweek at SPN: Blood orange, sea spray, honeysuckle, smoke and ginger. Nice richness remains on the palate, there is really good acidity that stretches out the wines length. Good texture and interest here. Drink now.

Straw-yellow with golden hues. Candieed fruits, minerals (iodine), pineapple and honey. Full-bodied, mouth-filling and round with the signature (for Leroy) fruit explosion in the mid-palate. High acidity and very long finish (another signature for Leroy wines). Has the potential to improve even further.

80s/90s Burg dinner at Jade Palace. One of 2 whites for the evening. Very dark gold, I mistakenly thought it was from the 80s. On the nose, very Meursault like with toffee, butter, vanilla cream and palm oil, but with a tinge of minerality and wet stone. Very mature on the palate, with sweetened pineapple and grapefruit. Again, there was heavy caramel, toffee, buttered brioche and honey. This was a good wine, just perhaps a tad advanced.

From a nice looking bottle with a 2 cm fill, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose offered up subtle vanilla, lemon, and honey.

As suspected, this wine took 4+ hours of air to show its best. While it was rich with lots of glycerin, it had riveting acidity. It only had good, but not outstanding, complexity so it was roughly equivalent to a low end premier cru.

This appears in the middle to the end of its drinking window, so I see no reason to wait.

Inizialmente abbastanza sporchino, poi si pulisce subito su una nota algosa/iodosa e floreale bianco. Rimane per un po' troppo inchiodato, molto giocato sulla finezza e l'eleganza. In bocca molto equilibrato, elegante e pulito, minarele.

KYD #1.4: Somewhat funky nose which is almost animalistic with hint of yellow plums, petroleum and white pepper. It does however seem a bit restrained.
Creamy and full-bodied sweet pineapple palate with a perfect flavor intensity. Lovely fresh acidity and overall in a great balance. Impressive that it is still quite juicy and fresh.
A huge wine that will continue to improve.

Fantastic wine. A lovely deep layered nose with some earthy notes. So many layers of white flowers, lemon and tropical fruits. A fully mature wine in perfect balance and totally harmonious - nothing sticks out - yet it is still fresh.

Leroy Dinner (Grace - Chicago IL): Absolutely sensational start with surprisingly fresh apple and lemon to start. Lots of fruit again on palate with faint emerging earthy hints. Lots of energy, precision start-to-finish with excellent power and length. Wine of the flight alongside both Leroy 1978 Meursault Narvaux and Genevrieres.

Origin 05-Jan-19 (Shang). PnP. Caramel and butterscotch immediately on the nose that built and built over the next couple of hours. Acidity was very evident but in this case very much welcome to balance the honeyed flavours on the palate. Powerful concentration and layer upon layer of complexity and super-long finish. Kept changing in the glass but did not fade over the evening. Simply breathtaking!

my wine of the night but also a wine I have trouble comparing to anything else. The nose is FULL ON butterscotch, popcorn, mushroom and baked apple that shows long aged white burgundy on the nose with great warmth and aged aroma but the palate was an absolute BANGER of energy - I was shocked by the dichotomy between the nose and the palate. It was full on lemon, acid, zip and length. With about a hour of air it started to tamper down in the acidity and the fruit started to sweeten and round out where it got closer to a 40 year old chardonnay but absolute width and complexity on the wine was unparalled. Just a wow level wine.
