8/19/2020 - retired_and_roving Likes this wine: NRGenerously shared with us by a close friend we had not seen since the before the start of the pandemic. So yes this is probably to young to fully appreciate all of its complexity, but it was still really nice. Fragrant nose of stuck match, and tart apples. Bright acidity, some viscosity on the palate, tart apples, minerals, touch of oak, long finish. Really nice to have the opportunity to taste, but even better to be sharing with a friend we whose company we have really missed. |

9/17/2009 - mychurch wrote: 94 pointsThis came for free at an auction last year (was after the Laville-Haut Brion that came with it) and looked in great condition, with the wine 2cm under the cork. Colour showed some aging, but definitely not 30 years. Still a freshness to the nose which exhibited a touch of caramel and some minerality. Needed a few minutes to open, but then we had a beautiful wine which was well balanced, had lovely rich fruit, a layered texture and a long finish. Amazing that such a basic cuvee could end up being so good. Started to oxidise as the evening went on and personally I enjoyed the extra complexity that this brought (been tasting to many Arbois styled wines recently), but I was very much in the minority there |

11/11/2009 - Yiannis wrote: 94 pointsStraw-yellow with golden hues. Candieed fruits, minerals (iodine), pineapple and honey. Full-bodied, mouth-filling and round with the signature (for Leroy) fruit explosion in the mid-palate. High acidity and very long finish (another signature for Leroy wines). Has the potential to improve even further. |

9/16/2016 - justburg wrote: 88 points80s/90s Burg dinner at Jade Palace. One of 2 whites for the evening. Very dark gold, I mistakenly thought it was from the 80s. On the nose, very Meursault like with toffee, butter, vanilla cream and palm oil, but with a tinge of minerality and wet stone. Very mature on the palate, with sweetened pineapple and grapefruit. Again, there was heavy caramel, toffee, buttered brioche and honey. This was a good wine, just perhaps a tad advanced. |

Lots of fruit again on palate with faint emerging earthy hints. Lots of energy, precision start-to-finish with excellent power and length. 1/5/2019 - Dogsbert Likes this wine: 95 pointsOrigin 05-Jan-19 (Shang). PnP. Caramel and butterscotch immediately on the nose that built and built over the next couple of hours. Acidity was very evident but in this case very much welcome to balance the honeyed flavours on the palate. Powerful concentration and layer upon layer of complexity and super-long finish. Kept changing in the glass but did not fade over the evening. Simply breathtaking! |

10/3/2021 - clayfu wrote: NRmy wine of the night but also a wine I have trouble comparing to anything else. The nose is FULL ON butterscotch, popcorn, mushroom and baked apple that shows long aged white burgundy on the nose with great warmth and aged aroma but the palate was an absolute BANGER of energy - I was shocked by the dichotomy between the nose and the palate. It was full on lemon, acid, zip and length. With about a hour of air it started to tamper down in the acidity and the fruit started to sweeten and round out where it got closer to a 40 year old chardonnay but absolute width and complexity on the wine was unparalled. Just a wow level wine. |
