6/9/2021 - DonDon Likes this wine: 92 pointsI'm not very familiar with Loire reds but helped put that right with a stellar line up of Pallus 16, 11 and 06 as well as Clos Rougeaurd 13 and 09. These wines do definitely need time and the 06 was stellar. This 2016 is much too young, so hang on to any bottles for another decade. This has lovely freshness and some violets on the nose, good tannin and a darker fruit profile. |

Gorgeous full aromas of sweet black fruit and cassis. On the palate it is the same - huge fruit ripeness and heavy cassis, with a touch of smoke. Would benefit from the fruit sweetness mellowing a bit to allow for greater acidity balance. I have 8 left and will try and taste these over many years. |

I am lucky to have bought 3 of these at the vineyard and for $75 before the wine spectator rating! I see it's now on sale as a library edition at $350!!! Either way it's great |

Fantastic depth of flavour. Huge length. Massively enjoyable. Bought a case of both this and the Palmaz CabSav blend after a tour and tasting at the vineyard and both are absoluteley eceptional. Will so enjoy both these wines over the next 15 years. |

Quite a dark purple wine, almost like a cali Syrah (in fact a drunk this from a Syrah glass which benefited this wine). Very successful for me |

I am impressed at my own restraint to leave it nearly 3 years before the next bottle! Of course this will improve and develop, but it was absolutely stunning right now. I left it over 4 hours in the decanter before we started it and it had the most perfect balance and length. Nothing overly dominating. Certainly no monster - just layers of deliciousness. Beautiful dark fruit - blackberry with cassis - with clove and baking spices, coffee and a wonderful freshness overall. Loved it |

7/19/2017 - DonDon Likes this wine: 94 pointsDONT OPEN THIS YET! This is the first of my 6 bottles and I went for it partly as everyone said it's drinking well. Well yes it is. It's from Napa!! It's totally delicious already. But honestly let this rest. I did a 6 hour decant and at the moment it needs more - like 12 hours or more. Taste is classic Napa. Others have decribed it better than I can but it really is fab - cassis and red fruit and great acidity for balance and just totally lovely - I just think this will get better. For me open this after 2020. And I say that as someone who enjoys the primary fruit (I don't love aged Bordeaux for example) but this just needs a few more years to become slightly more integrated. This will give more joy with more time. But did I mention it's lovely! |

Brooding dark fruits. Classic blackberry with some distinct tobacco flavours, a little cassis. I’m not claiming this is that complex - it’s quite linear but it’s just so precise and damn delicious. I’d say this is at its peak. Great structure and acidity. We had this alongside a 2006 Ornallia and it held up beautifully |
