5/14/2023 - FamousWine Likes this wine: NRThis is a Catalan blend of 65% 80-year-old Grenache, 25% 110-year-old Carignan and 10% 15-year-old syrah. It was aged for 14 months in fine-grained barrels of French oak (including 50% new). The wine was decanted for 1h30 before the tasting. Exceptionally pure and full of finesse, the nose reveals aromas of sun-kissed raspberries, smoky and ferrous notes as well as a slight floral touch of determined elegance. On the palate, the weight surprised me: I expected more concentration or density and, all in all, it barely seems medium-bodied. Maybe it's the liveliness that's fooling me? The 15% abv are perfectly controlled: the sharp acidity strongly energizes the material and harmonizes the ripe (almost warm) fruits and some bloody meaty hints. The length is interesting, ending on a few firm tannins, a pleasing minerality and a electrifying vitality. Of course, this wine is too young but it has already a distinctive character. Everything is there for it to become more complex and more consistent over time. My advice is to hold and revisit in 5 years. |

8/19/2022 - winespine Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis is made in a fresh, relatively fruit forward, early drinking style and makes for a good pop and pour. That’s how we served it - chilled a bit, popped it, poured in a decanter, served. Fermented in stainless and aged in 2nd use barriques, the oak is mellow, the fruit is lush and the tannins are already quite soft. It’ll probably stitch together a bit more with some age, but it’s delicious now. |

11/13/2021 - JonBarnes1 Likes this wine: NRI try these ever hopeful a current vintage will recapture the magic of 2015 Les Crestes. This is the best effort since then but still not its equal. Acidic with a pronounced llicorella twang, simple and light mouthfeel, with some spice and secondary aromas after some time in the glass. Not bad. |

5/12/2021 - FamousWine Likes this wine: 89 pointsThe blend is 80% Grenache, 10% Carignan and 10% Syrah. The vines are planted on slopes with slate soil (called llicorella here in Priorat). The color is dark red with very strong purple reflections. The nose, already nicely expressive, takes me totally to the south: compote of strawberries, tart cherries, blood orange and sweet spices (mainly cinnamon). On the palate, the body is medium. The tannins are very fine but provide all the same a nice interesting grip. There are aromas of blackcurrant, a little violet, blood orange, some sour candies and even some herbaceous notes. One could fear opulence and heat but nothing like that to report: the freshness is remarkable and makes me forget the 15% abv displayed on the bottle. The finish really highlights an iron-like minerality that I had already felt in “Salanques”. Yet the wine needs a few more years to gain consistency but everything is there for it to develop nicely. I really enjoyed this cuvée, it was a pleasant tasting moment. 89-90pts. |

12/25/2019 - ricard Likes this wine: 92 pointsSurprisingly restrained. I expected more density but it's actually rather refined and even delicate. Notes of almonds and hay bales. A touch of lemon and ginger. Also butter, cream and vanilla. A firm acidity. Joyful and at the same time balanced and structured. Delicious and tremendously pleasant. A mineral and rather light expression of Priorat Garnatxa Blanca. |
