A fine drink, but if you're looking for a full bodied Napa Cab, best go to Napa. This wine is altogether lighter in body, and driven more by spice and mineral than fruit, as is the norm for California. Dare I say this has some elegance and subtlety, but lacks the sheer power to merit an outstanding rating in my book. Don't get me wrong, I like this wine, and enjoyed it a lot, but it just landed slightly in quaffer territory rather than keeper.

Edit: Almost 7 hours in, the nose has lifted and the rose petals are coming through. The palate is also opening up nicely with kirsch and green bell pepper. You'd think it's playing hard to get.

Very tasty and approachable...hint of oaky tannins, but lots of fruit as well. Fabulous pairing with Osso Buco, which was the plan. Maybe not the most profound version of a Brunello, but the QPR is excellent.

No formal note, this is too young to drink, it needs several years of cellar time or a multi day decant. This will be solid in about five or so years, leave it alone until then if you can.

Brunello sneaks up on you, man. It starts off simple and tasty like Juliette Lewis in Cape Fear, but once it opens up, it becomes broad and complex, like Juliette Lewis in Natural Born Killers. While still young compared to top flight Brunellos, this is marked with sweet, soft tannins and just enough acidity to walk along side the tomato sauce that was ladled over the gnocchi I served it with. Yes, it’s still an adolescent, but it won’t get better. Drink it now. Don’t look at me like that! Drink it!

Already fairly approachable, with ripe red berry fruit, some wood, soil, and a little truffle. Medium>medium+ body, avg. acidity/complexity/structure. Pretty straightforward if a touch on the modern side. For what it is, and at its price, it's recommended

I bought 2 of these the year of release. When you cellar wine, you play the odds that your enjoyment of a wine will increase v decrease. But, it’s always a gamble. We had a bottle when it was 10 years old and it was lovely. 93 pts. I won that bet. With this bottle, now 14+ years old, I lost. Cooked. Prune-y and Raisin-y. Gave it 24 hours, but it it didn’t come around. It was known to be a hotter vintage, so I checked tasting notes on CT for other BdMs I’m cellaring from that vintage and they’re all doing well. This is a quality producer, so I’m thinking maybe it saw excess heat in transit or storage before I even bought it.

Notes are consistent with prior tasting. Great quality Brunello for a very good price, albeit purchased on sale. Works really well with good food, again Italian food in this instance. Not a big Brunello but has the cherry fruit in both the nose and on the palette. Relatively smooth and a nice finish, not too long. Another enjoyable bottle.

A really delicious wine; medium body and translucent garnet, fading at edges,lovely aroma of rose, violets and pixie-stick; mouth filling balsam, vanilla, pithy sweet dark cherry and talc. Medium long soft finish with a bit of light mouth cleansing astringency on the finish. Excellent now, but can last several more years.

Amazing nose! The development in the bottle has has accentuated the terracotta, heavy rose balsamic quality. The palate is a little tight and short with fairly grippy tannins, but also still fresh and more-ish. Best of my bottles and the last one! Becoming a recurring theme for me!

Half bottle on day 1: Very tight early with a big alcohol hit in the front, thin in the middle and a big hit of oak in the finish. The oak finish was so strong it lingered. Remaining bottle on day 2: Much improved with integrated flavors and still some lively tannins. On the downside, the over oaked finish was still present.

This medium-bodied Cab is redolent of flowers and dark ruby in color. The texture is deceptively soft and seductive. It has characteristic Cabernet Sauvignon flavors, no vegetal qualities, and is more luscious and subtle than many. The layers and flavors, including dark berries, vanilla and mocha, mingle harmoniously on the finish. At 14.5%, it has some years ahead of it, and corresponding acidity. There is a long finish with pronounced but still rounded tannins. I am enjoying this at a level that surprises me, given the age and price. A good deal.

A not too "Super" Tuscan, we found this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese to sip nicely but without sufficient power. Perhaps a few more years in the cellar? Right now, we get the feeling of Driving Miss Daisy...we hope there is more under the hood than currently showing!

Decanted thru Vinturi into decanter, drank over 2 hours while it and 2 other wines evolved. This became very complex with levels of fruit, spice on the nose and palate. Perhaps a 92 by the time we finished.

Fresh and inviting aromas of cherry, maraschino cherry, cranberry, dried tobacco and tar. Sweet and tart on the palate with bracing acidity. Drying tannins on the short, dry finish. Very good.

I so strongly disliked this that I couldn't tell if it was flawed or I'm just seriously against the particular flavor profile. I can't give it lower than an 85 but I also can't give it higher than an 85. I feel like you (yes, I'm talking to you) should try it just so you know what one guy on the internet thinks is the worst wine he's ever had.

Light shades of see through purple. As expected from this varietal. The nose is gorgeous- floral, cherry, garigue and mushroom. It’s kinda funky, exciting and not what I thought a young Brunello could offer at this stage.

The palate is delightful, not as mature as the nose but there’s hope. I get cherries, that funky mushroom thing, crispy acidity and very lithe tannins. This is a bombshell of a wine folks. There’s fresh fruit, trappings of tertiary flavors, well balanced structure and a delightful mouthfeel. The mid palate is a seamless transition from the initial to the medium length finish. I am so glad I got a case of this stuff, I’m going to cellar some and track the evolution. I have high hopes. Drink till 2030. 92 points and 5 stars for this $40 Sangiovese.

It seems that as the oak notes have integrated the fruit has faded. This is now headed well into tertiary waters, and whilst accompanying a well-aged steak those notes worked well. Fine, but not the full ticket- a learning experience.
