Decanted for 4+ hrs. Gorgeous aromas of currant, chocolate, raspberries and leather . Medium-full bodied with a very nice palate of currant and spice, beautifully balanced with slightly firming tannins coming in play toward the end leading to a long fruity finish...very, very well made. There is plenty of life in this to cellar for a while but this is showing so nicely now it's hard not to drink....delicious! this is an easy 92pt wine.

Popped, decanted and poured from cellar. This bottle was not showing well....had a woody/barrel taste to it...possibly flawed bottle as this always has shown wonderful. Not going to score this one.

Decanted for 2hrs. Dark inky Ruby color, very complex explosive nose of blackberry, currant, spice, chocolate covered strawberries and meat, full bodied with a palate that is representative of the nose with the addition of sweet berries and black pepper, silky tannins...GORGEOUS!!!....very long finish that turns to blueberry pie. This improved further over the 1.5 hrs that we drank it....drinking very nicely now but surely has upside to aging...TampaSteve 95 points.

RP was spot on this wine as my TN is right on line with his. Decanted this for 5 hrs, nice purple, plum, raisiny color, beautiful nose of cassis, plum, meat with a little burnt wood aspect, on the palate are very nice, ever so slightly sweet flavors of both red and dark fruit, a little bit of earthiness there to ground it down just right, good weight, still showing slightly firm tannins and a great finish. Cellar this gem for 6 months and I think it will be even nicer. This wine rocks! To me it drinks like a $40 CDP and at $16 has just tremendous QPR. This is something if I tasted in a restaurant that I would expect to have a >$60 price tag. Just ordered more. 90+

Decanted for one hour. It's been about 6 months since I tasted this. Still has purple/plum color, nose has notes of plum, raisin/prune, blackberry....getting a bit of alcohol coming through...also some earthy Rhone notes. The palate is medium body with some spicy peppery notes wrapped around some nice dark fruit.....this seems to have integrated a bit more....showing a bit more earthy tones. Still has a bit of grip on the palate but drinking nice. However the finish on this finish seems to have shortened up quite a bit compared to my last TN.....finish fades fast.

Took this to our Wine Library Christmas 12/21/06 get-together. I have no formal tasting notes on this. We tasted this along with about 15 other great wines, most agreed this was the wine of the night, the structure on this is amazingly in balance, the fruit pops the tannins are there for the aging and all is just right, this surprisingly was drinking very nice but is still in the infant stage, no doubts this will become more and more incredible as time goes on, the finish was going and going like the Energizer Bunny. I agree with WS on this one.

Decanted for 1.5hrs and drank over the next 2. Great ruby color with a sweet nose of plum, berry, vanilla, oak and spice, full bodied, great mouth feel with a palate that is representative of the nose, firm tannins show at the end but not to the point that they detract, long, long fruity finish. This is a nicely balanced Syrah. While this is a big fruity wine it is no over the top high alcohol fruit bomb....good job 92

Color is bright clear ruby with med intensity. Big florally nose of black fruit with an almost citrus component...pinot noir like....not Bordeaux like at all....very new world. The palate shows flavors that follow the palate ....this is a slight bit unfortunate as that citrus component leads to a greenish edge...again almost pinot like. The finish is med to long. I am not loving this wine...shows a bit disjointed at present. Very new world and non-representative of Bordeaux. In it's present state this is a 86 point wine to me.

Decanted for 45min. Dark, dark color, basically black w/purple/ruby rim. Big nose of spice and peppered black fruit with a bit of smoke in the background. Full bodied with lots of dark fruit on the palate, but not a fruit-bomb, again there is some nice spice with definite pepper coming through, very nice mouth feel with well integrated smooth tannins, the finish is long. This is a very nicely balanced wine that is drinking quite well right now....recommended by Gary Vaynerchuk....impressed. 92

20 minute decant in the glass. Dark purple almost black color that leads to a powerful nose of berries, violet, spice and smoky oak. The palate is full bodied and shows of dark berries, maduro cigar and spice, good acidity and well integrated tannins that lead to a long fruity finish with just a tad of heat showing through. This is open and ready to go. TampaSteve 90

Great little daily Bordeaux....can't beat it for $10/bottle. Plenty of lush fruit with nice cedar undertones....drinking well now....don't see any reason to hold this one. There is an ever so slight greenish edge to this but nothing that distracts enough to knock it.

Decanted this for 2 hrs, dark candied apple color like you would get at a carnival, nice fragrant nose of dark fruit, the palate follows the nose with black cherry, currant and blackberry along with some spice box, medium body, a bit thin, this is still showing some firm tannins on the mid palate that probably should integrate a bit more with a little time, finish is a bit short but OK. This juice rocks at 8 bones a bottle, is drinkable now and should reward even more for those who want to lay a case or two down for 6 months to a year. I think the previous posters are underrating this. If this is this good at $8 I can't even wait to see what the $30-40 '05 Bordeaux's will taste like. Damn, when I stay at a hotel a bottle of Fiji water is $7. Solid 88 rating here and a crazy BUY.

Decanted in glass for 1hr. Dark Ruby purple color. A little tight on the nose, some cherry mixed with dark fruit....a little floral aspect going on also. Medium body with a big mid palate of blk currant, blackberry and spice. The tannins are a slight bit gripping but fairly smooth with firm acidity. The finish does drop off pretty fast. The fruit is pure here and I think for an $8 wine it's a good QPR. I don't quite get all the bad ratings on CT??? I don't think there is much here for anything more than some brief short term cellaring. This is a fine everyday wine for the money TS86

Not all that exciting....thin and just average....it's an everyday'r and at $15 it was a fair value. There is some decent fruit on the nose and palate but the tannins are a bit ripe and gripping....but really don't see much worth in holding this one due to it's shallow nature....drink it up...it is what it is. I think that WS is the one that got this one right.

Decanted this wine in the glass for 45min-1hr. This wine has a light-med cherry color to it. On the nose it has cherry, soda and earth. WS is spot on this one. It has the strawberry, raspberry and mushroom on the palate. It is a slender, sexy, elegant wine that is unmistakingly feminine. I LIKE IT This is like the girl you pass in the street and spin your head to take another look This light body jewel makes it a wonderfull alternative to a white wine with light meals like fish and chicken. I had it with chicken pie and.....MMMMmmmmm...I am in love. I will be ordering more of this....a great buy indeed and no wonder why WS lists it as a SMART BUY. I rate this wine a 91/92.

Decanted for 3.5hrs. The color on this is dark cranberry alomost to the point of black. The nose is filled of blackberry liquor, spice, vanilla and chocolate covered cherries . WOW!!!...the palate on this is explosive, extremely extracted fruit showing blackberry, blueberry, spice and vanilla. The alcohol is apparent on this wine both on the nose and palate and no doubt at a whopping 16.5%. The COL is balanced and surprisingly quite approachable at this early stage of life with no apparent heat or harsh tannins that usually accompany at such a young age. The finish on this goes on forever.
This is a very very dense wine...war paint comes to mind. I have only once before encountered a wine as dense and extracted as this , the 2001 Feudi di San Gregorio Irpinia Serpico also rated way up there as a 98 point Parker. This wine gives the term "over the top" a new meaning, pushing the limits of wine into the grey zone IMO. This by all means falls more into the "fruit cocktail" category. The best analogy I can think of is comparing this to being at a cross road. There is a road in front of you and another to the right and left. The road to the left is wine country, the road to the right is cocktail country and then there is the road that this wine travels which is the road straight down the middle.
I can appreciate this effort and it's potential but also see it going into a realm that takes it into the wine twilight zone. The density alone on this makes it hard to drink more than one glass. My wife and I finished a bottle over a steak dinner and struggled to do so. The alcohol level also shows it's bold face letting you know that you just drank a 16.5% alcohol fruit cocktail. There may be a time and place for this style but to me not one that I would want to frequent. I have found this one of the hardest wines to try to rate. I am giving this a 90?. I use the ? and will explain. While an effort like this is in itself an amazing accomplishment I am not sure exactly where in the wine world it belongs. I think the name is quite appropriate as it is a "CARNIVAL" alright, just not sure for me that it's The Carnival Of Love.

Medium body, on the palate I get sour cherry, liquorice and a bit of an earthy/mineral component with fine cheek coating tannins leading to a medium finish. The acidity is good but not at all overwhelming, the wine is nicely balanced ....a good drink. 89
